Bottom Line

The 250-room Days Inn Orlando International Drive South of Universal is a budget property that is well-located near the Orlando theme parks. Universal Studios is within walking distance, while others are just a short drive away. This property has free parking and a nice outdoor pool complete with lounge chairs. Other amenities include an on-site cafe, laundry room, and Internet corner. Rooms are painted in cheerful tones of yellow and coral, but some furniture is worn and cleanliness standards are deplorable. While the rates are low and may suit those on a tight budget, it's worth checking out other options nearby such as the Rosen Inn International

Oyster Hotel Review

Days Inn by Wyndham Orlando/International Drive

Scene

Budget-friendly hotel near theme parks

This Days Inn is a budget-friendly property with a bright but basic and somewhat dated small lobby. There are some worn leather couches and stands of tourism brochures surrounding the wooden reception desk. The walls are painted in a cheerful yellow, but overall the property looks a little on the drab side. A number of business travelers stay here when visiting the nearby Orange County Convention Center, but the hotel mainly attracts budget-minded families for fast access to the theme parks. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a nice outdoor pool adding to the ambience.

Location

On International Drive, walking distance to Universal

This Days Inn has a convenient location in close proximity to several local attractions. It’s just a 10-minute walk to Universal Orlando. By car, SeaWorld is 10 minutes away and Walt Disney World is 15 minutes away. Shoppers will be happy too, as the Festival Bay Mall is a five-minute drive, and Florida Mall a nine-minute drive. Business guests here for the Orange County Convention Center can drive there in seven minutes. There are lots of chain restaurants nearby, including a Dairy Queen, Denny's, and IHOP, within a 10-minute walk. It’s worth bearing in mind though that the rooms at the front of the hotel are very close to the busy road.

Rooms

Rooms are spacious and bright, but a bit on the dated side

The rooms here are a good size and either have one king-size bed, or two double beds. Some have flat-screen TVs, while others have old tube-style TVs. Some previous guests found their rooms to be clean and well-kept, while others have complained of various issues including broken locks on the bathroom door, rusty and broken taps, a musty smell, and mold on the walls and ceilings. All rooms should be equipped with air-conditioning, coffeemaker, a safe, and a telephone with free local calls although, in many rooms, these are missing or broken. There have also been some complaints about bed bugs and cockroaches. Rooms overlook either the swimming pool or a busy road.

Features

Outdoor pool, basic cafe, and free Wi-Fi

Unlike some budget hotels, this one does offer free Wi-Fi throughout the property. It also has a nice outdoor pool with plastic sun loungers, and a picnic area with a few benches. There's a cafe that serves basic snacks and has vending machines for hot drinks. Guests can use a laundry room, and there is also a computer station and printer. Car parking is free, and there’s also a free shuttle from here to Disney World and Universal Studios, although it runs very infrequently and the pick-up times may not suit all guests.
