Bottom Line

This 91-room, mid-range Best Western Plus Convention
Center Hotel has free shuttle service to and from
theme parks and is a 10-minute walk to the Orange County Convention Center. The hotel provides a pool, a 24-hour fitness center,
and a small business center. The free breakfast buffet, though basic, does
offer indoor and outdoor patio seating. The
rooms, beds, and bathrooms are small, especially for a chain hotel such as this, and strong smells and maintenance issues in rooms may be bothersome to guests. Check
rates at the nearby Hyatt Place Orlando/Convention Center for
nicer rooms.

Scene

Chain hotel popular with families and business travelers

The Best Western Plus Convention Center Hotel looks exactly like the chain hotel it is on the outside, and is housed in a golden tan building flanked by a parking lot. The lobby is large and airy and has a warm brown, gold, and
orange color scheme with a few couches, chairs, and table for guests; decor is a standard chain-like style that's bland, but pleasant enough. In
addition to the front desk, there is a guest services desk that sells tickets
to theme parks. The business center is located on the second floor, but is
accessed by a set of stairs in the lobby. The interior hallways are wide with
brown carpeting and ample lighting. This hotel draws many business travelers
since it is near the convention center, as well as families, who take advantage of the
free shuttle service to theme parks and attractions.

Location

Walking distance to the convention center and within driving distance to popular attractions

The hotel is in a
great location to popular attractions and the convention center. It’s an 11-minute
walk to the Orange Country Convention Center if guests take West Entrance Drive
(or a 22 minute-walk if taking International Drive and Convention Way). SeaWorld is only a few blocks (a five-minute drive) from the hotel. Universal is an 18-minute drive and the Disney
theme parks are 10 minutes away. An urgent care medical center is conveniently located
next door. There are a few dining options a three-minute
walk from the hotel.

Rooms

Most rooms have two full-size beds, a mini-fridge, and a large flat-screen TV

The rooms are simple and chain-like with a color scheme
of brown, tan, and gold. There are a few orange and red decorative pieces, like
pillows and art with floral patterns. The hotel almost exclusively offers rooms with two full-size
beds, though there are some rooms with a single queen bed (including the ADA Accessible Rooms). The rooms and bed are small for a chain hotel like this, as are the
bathrooms, sinks, and showers. The makeup remover wipes included with the hotel
toiletries are a nice bonus. All rooms have mini-fridges, large flat-screen TVs, tea- and coffee-making facilities, electronic safes, and free Wi-Fi. Maintenance problems and reports of strong cleaning product
or mildew smells may be bothersome to guests.

Features

Free shuttle service to attractions, outdoor pool, business center, and free breakfast

The best feature of the hotel is that it offers free
shuttle service to and from SeaWorld, Universal, and Disney theme parks. Guests
can also use the guest services desk in the lobby which sells tickets to
these attractions. Additionally, the hotel has an outdoor pool with lounge chairs, a few
tables, umbrellas, and is accessible by persons with disabilities due to a pool
chair lift. The fitness center has four exercise machines and is open 24 hours.
For business travelers or convention attendees, there is a business center with
a few computers, a printer, and fax machine. There is also a coin-operated
washer and dryer, though they are a bit pricey. The hotel also offers a free basic breakfast that includes eggs,
cereals, a waffle maker that makes Mickey Mouse-shaped waffles, a pancake maker,
and indoor and outdoor patio dining.
