Bottom Line
The family-owned Inn at the Prom is a value property offering 15 suites with kitchenettes or kitchens, fireplaces, and jetted bathtubs or hot tubs; some also have beachfront balconies. There's no on-site restaurant, but there are plenty of places to dine and shop within a couple of blocks of the hotel. Amenities include loaner beach toys and chairs, a barbecue grill, and free parking, and there's a laundry room at the Blue Gull Inn, a nearby sister hotel. Those looking for even cheaper accommodations on the beach may want to consider the Best Western Ocean View Resort, though note its most basic rooms are small.

Beachfront property on Seaside's promenade with ocean views but no common areas
Dwarfed by the multistory properties that surround it, the two-story Inn at the Prom is a small house-shaped property with teal balcony railings and off-white siding. A brick pathway separates the building from a pair of grassy lawns with Adirondack chairs that face out onto the sandy beach. There's no lobby or indoor common space, and all check-ins are processed in the lovely antique-filled lobby of the neighboring sister property, the Gilbert Hotel, which is owned by the same family. The inn primarily attracts vacationing couples and the occasional family.
Location
Seaside beachfront location on the promenade
The Inn at Prom is directly on the beach and promenade, sandwiched between other hotels. It's one block from Broadway Street, a touristy main drag with local shops and restaurants. The Lewis and Clark Monument and the Turnaround Market are a block away and the Seaside Aquarium, Seaside Antique Mall, and Seaside Civic & Convention Center are all within walking distance. Cannon Beach and the Haystack Rock are a 15-minute drive south. It’s 20 minutes to Ecola State Park and 30 minutes to Astoria Column. The Portland International Airport takes about two hours to reach.
Rooms
Small rooms feature fireplaces, jetted tubs or hot tubs, and kitchenettes, some with ocean views
Rooms at the Inn are small but cozy and warm, and feature fireplaces, leather headboards, brown draperies, Spanish tiles, and carpeting, with pops of red in the decor. All rooms have flat-screen TVs with DVD players, separate living rooms or sitting areas, and either kitchenettes with wet bars, microwaves, coffeemakers, mini-fridges or full kitchens with ovens and stoves. Housekeeping includes garbage pick-up and towel exchange, and linen replacement can be requested. Small bathrooms have charming beige tile work, hairdryers, and wither shower/jetted tub combos or two-person whirlpool hot tubs.
Some of the higher-category rooms -- such as the Ocean Front King Spa Suites -- have views of the beach from private patios. Most also have sofa beds and two-seat dining tables. King Spa Suites have kitchenettes and neighborhood views, while One Bedroom Spa Suites offer separate bedrooms, with adjoining rooms available on request. Guest Rooms With Spas have kitchenettes and shared patios.
Features
Barbecue area, on-site parking, movie rentals, a lounge and laundry services
The Inn at Prom has limited on-site facilities, namely a propane barbecue grill, ice and vending machines and free (but sometimes spotty) Wi-Fi. There’s free on-site parking, but the spaces are small. Guests can access common areas and services from nearby sister properties, including the Gilbert Inn, which features a sunny lounge with books and board games, bistro dining tables, hot tea, and loaner DVDs. Self-serve laundry machines are located at the Blue Gull Inn and guests can borrow beach toys and chairs.
