Bottom Line

Hi-Tide Oceanfront Inn is a two-pearl motel with a great location across from the beach and ocean. However, it’s in major need of a style facelift. Though the 64 rooms are clean, they’re bland with a mix of dated and contemporary aspects. All come with kitchenettes and fireplaces, while some have ocean views and balconies. Air-conditioning is not available in rooms. The indoor pool and hot tub are the highlight of the amenities, though there’s also a free basic breakfast of cold items, pet-friendly policies, and free cookies in the evening. Wi-Fi is free, but reportedly has poor connection. Ebb Tide Oceanfront Inn has similar amenities, but offers a modern design and a more diverse breakfast with hot items.

Scene

Budget-friendly motel with dated spaces and a clientele of couples and families

Situated in a three-story motel setup, Hi-Tide Oceanfront shows its age in dated public spaces. The lobby is quaint, with a wooden desk and a few wicker chairs next to the window. There’s a small breakfast room that can get quite crowded in the mornings. Though a fireplace and flat-screen TV are lovely elements to the breakfast room, the blond wooden tables and wooden chairs with blue padding are dated. The indoor pool attracts guests throughout the day, and it can be a busy, fun atmosphere. As a budget-friendly motel, it draws mostly couples and families who appreciate the self-service type of rooms and the location across from the ocean.

Location

Across the street from the ocean and a 10-minute walk from attractions and restaurants

Hi-Tide Oceanfront Inn isn’t quite a beachfront hotel, but it’s an easy walk across the street from the ocean and beach. The area is mostly filled with residential homes, though there are some dining options within a 10-minute walk away. It’s a seven-minute walk to the Seaside Aquarium. It takes nine minutes on foot to reach the Seaside Carousel Mall and the Seaside Civic and Convention Center. History lovers will appreciate that the Lewis and Clark Salt Cairn Historical Marker -- where their expedition ended -- is just an eight-minute walk away. The Seaside Municipal Airport is a seven-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Studio units with flat-screen TVs, kitchenettes, and no air-conditioning

The rooms at Hi-Tide Oceanfront Inn are all studio-style units that differ mainly in that some have ocean views and some don't have ocean views. All rooms have a dated contemporary style, with blond wooden furniture, brown carpet floors, and cream walls. Pops of orange or blue sometimes appear in bed accents or kitchenette countertops. There have been some cleanliness and maintenance complaints. Free (but spotty) Wi-Fi comes standard, along with flat-screen TVs and kitchenettes with coffeemakers, microwaves, sinks, mini-fridges, two-burner stoves, utensils, platter ware, and cookware. Rooms lack air-conditioning, and only ocean view rooms offer patios. Bags of taffy included in the rooms are a nice little perk. Bathrooms are basic and dated, too -- some with mustard yellow floors and baths. All bathrooms include shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and free toiletries.

Features

Indoor pool, hot tub, free breakfast, free cookies in the evening, free Wi-Fi, and pets welcome

Though the hotel lacks a gym, restaurant, bar, or meeting rooms, it does have some amenities that travelers like. The indoor pool and hot tub is popular. There’s also a free breakfast of yogurt, pastries, fruit, cereal, and coffee offered in the morning, though take note that the breakfast room can get crowded and staff suggest most guests eat in their rooms. Free freshly baked cookies are offered in the lobby in the evening, while snacks are available for sale throughout the day. Parking is free. Some rooms allow for pets for a fee. Wi-Fi is free but reportedly has a poor connection.
