Scene
A tidy oceanfront hotel with a friendly and relaxed vibe
This tidy five-story hotel is an older property that’s been nicely updated into a modern chain hotel. The cheerful and contemporary lobby has high angled ceilings, light hardwood floors, and dark wood trim. A huge photo mural rests directly above the large registration desk that has a blue, wavy piece of art behind it. Leather furniture in shades of white and orange provide comfy seating. The Ocean Bakery Cafe is an especially homey area to relax, with a sectional sofa facing a TV and fireplace, along with plenty of other seating. Lovely photos of the majestic local scenery in the hallways are a nice touch. This is a friendly tourist hotel with a relaxed vibe. Guests lucky enough to have oceanfront rooms are often seen relaxing on their balconies, taking in the spectacular views.
Location
Directly on the beach; a short walk to Seaside’s top attractions
The Best Western Plus has an almost unbeatable location directly on the beach. The immediate area on the street side is quiet and consists mostly of small private homes. It’s only a three-minute stroll along the beach to the Seaside Aquarium, and a five-minute walk to the numerous restaurants and shops in the heart of the charming oceanfront town. The Seaside Carousel Mall and Seaside Civic & Convention Center are seven minutes away on foot. Seaside Municipal Airport is six minutes away by car. It’s a 20-minute drive to Cannon Beach and its famous Haystack Rock landmark. Portland International Airport is a two-hour drive.
Rooms
Clean and well equipped rooms with mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi
There’s a significant difference between certain rooms in this Best Western Plus. Some rooms are accessed by exterior corridors, while others have interior access. Premium Oceanfront rooms are the largest option and also feature spectacular views from their private balconies. Some of them have bedroom area whirlpool tubs and kitchenettes that include dishwashers, cooktops, and wet bars. On the other end of the spectrum, some rooms are quite small and look out upon walls and walkways. The Standard King Accessible we saw was small, but clean and nicely decorated in a contemporary fashion. The hardwood floors were the most distinctive feature, along with the wavy-patterned blue and gold drapes. The gold walls are complemented by matching, honey-finished wood furniture which includes a headboard and desk with an upholstered chair. Ocean-themed artwork is a nice touch. The bathrooms have ample space and lovely white and gray marble-look tiling around the showers. Standard amenities included mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi -- but no air-conditioning or safes.
Features
Restaurant, indoor pool, fitness center, laundry room, and free parking and Wi-Fi
This Best Western Plus doesn’t offer the chain’s signature free hot breakfast buffet, but it does have an on-site restaurant and bakery that serves American classics for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Ocean Bakery Cafe also sells beer and wine, as well as to-go items and cooked-to-order breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, and pizzas. The hotel also has vending machines that sell snacks and soft drinks. The L-shaped indoor pool is heated, but it’s on the small side and steam from the whirlpool can make the space feel claustrophobic. The fitness center has plenty of space for its four pieces of cardio equipment, free weights, and a universal strength-training machine. The business center has two computers, a printer, and an ATM. Wi-Fi is free, and there is meeting space for small groups. The guest laundry room has two coin-operated washer/dryer sets, and valet dry cleaning and laundry services are available. Parking is free. Pets are welcome with a surcharge.
