Scene

Laid-back surf vibe that's popular with business travelers and international tourists

The biggest selling point of this 157-room property is its prime location across from the beach, and its laid-back luxury vibe. Its heavy emphasis on surfing-related art contribute to its coastal ambiance. The lobby has low ceilings and bamboo furniture with bright upholstery in turquoise and green, and there are plenty of little seating areas throughout the hotel, including an outdoor terrace garden. The walls in common areas feature art from local and renowned artists and surf photographers, and each guest room has its own 3D surf scene installation over the room number. The hotel is popular with international tourists, but also gets its fair share of corporate guests, owing primarily to its large business center and variety of meeting rooms.

Location

Right across the street from the beach in a pedestrian-friendly part of town

The Shorebreak is located right across the street from Huntington Beach, a two-minute walk to the end of the pier. There's a Mexican restaurant and coffeeshop on one side of the hotel and a few surf shops on the other. The area is pedestrian-friendly, with plenty of places to eat and shop within close walking distance. Orange County's John Wayne Airport is a 23-minute drive away without traffic.

Rooms

Smallish, bright rooms with big showers and flat-screen TVs

The rooms at the Shorebreak Hotel run a bit small, and are equipped with flat-screen TVs. Room furniture is made of light-colored wood and beds have fluffy white comforters and blue, white, and grey plaid headboards. Bathrooms have large showers with black and white tiles, and some come with tubs. Some rooms have waterfront views and some of the suites have private terraces or courtyards. Wi-Fi is available in all rooms for a daily fee.

Features

Excellent restaurant, fitness facilities, and lots of meeting space

Zimala Restaurant & Bar, with stylish decor in bright colors (including blue, orange, and green), is open morning until night and offers hot breakfast, pub-style lunch, and hearty dinners, as well as a wide selection of cocktails. There's a medium-sized fitness center with free weights and plenty of new equipment. The hotel also has a number of facilities aimed at business travelers, including a large business center, an enormous ballroom that can be split up into many different meeting rooms, and a suite with a projection board. Beach toys and equipment, surfboards, and bicycles are available for rent in the lobby.
