Best Host Inn

The Best Host Inn is squarely focused on families visiting the world-famous amusement parks nearby: Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm. While not large or upscale, this property does a good job of being welcoming, as guests are greeted by free coffee/tea, water, and snacks. Several black leather sofas in the lobby offer comfortable seating, while back granite siding on the front desk matches the granite borders around the beige floor tiles. Overall, the vibe is casual and friendly, even if the decor is dated and somewhat '80s.

The Best Host Inn is located on a busy road in Buena Park, with the Soak City waterpark just across the street. A few restaurants are within a five-minute walk or less, and a pharmacy is only two minutes away on foot. Knott’s Berry Farm, Medieval Times Restaurant, and the Pirates Dinner Adventure are only three minutes by car or the hotel’s free shuttle service. There's also a large retail complex only four minutes away by car or shuttle with several restaurants, a Walmart, and a cinema complex. The shuttle also runs to Disneyland Park, which is about 15 minutes away, depending on traffic. Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim Convention Center, and the Honda Center also are approximately 15 minutes away. Newport Beach and Sunset Beach are 25to 30 minutes away. The John Wayne Airport takes 25 minutes to reach without traffic while LAX is 40 minutes away.

Rooms in this budget hotel are clean and tidy, if dated, with dark, traditional furnishings. Navy carpet and mahogany furniture gives the rooms a darker feel despite pale yellow walls and bright white bedding. Decorative bed throws and matching bed skirts come in shades of shiny copper brown or garnet. Framed photos of SoCal scenes decorate some walls. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and safes. Some units have whirlpool hot tubs in the main bedroom areas. Studio-style Mini-Suites and Family Suites add kitchenettes with sinks, toasters, and dishware. Family Suites also offer bunk beds and separate living rooms. Most bathrooms (with the exception of some suites) have granite vanities sitting outside the bathrooms, which are tiny, with shower/tub combos. Past guests have reported the rooms suffer from some outside noise from the busy road and minor housekeeping and maintenance issues, but most guests report being pleased with the rooms. 

This family-oriented hotel offers several freebies, including a hot breakfast buffet with egg and meat dishes and a welcome basket that includes treats and wine. It also operates a free shuttle service to nearby Knott’s Berry Farm, as well as to Medieval Times Restaurant, Pirates Dinner Adventure, and Disneyland. Parking and Wi-Fi are also free, and free coffee, water, fruit, cookies, and popcorn are offered in the lobby throughout the day. The outdoor heated pool is open year round, and two meeting rooms are available for up to 15 people. Other features include coin-operated laundry facilities and a business center consisting of two touch-screen computers with internet access and a printer. The hotel sells tickets to Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm, and has several vending machines for drinks and snacks, but no proper restaurant.
