The upper-middle-range Montebello Resort is a family-friendly all-inclusive occupying prime real estate in Oludeniz, within easy strolling distance of the beach and restaurants. The modern villa complex has a pleasant, albeit not functional, river pool running parallel to paved pathways and terraces. Not to fret, though, the resort has a main pool with gorgeous views, a kids’ pool with fountain, and a pool with two waterslides. Additional features include a kids' club and organized activities, play a well-equipped spa and small gym. The 150 contemporary rooms have air conditioners, flat-screen TVs, and furnished balconies or patios. There are multiple restaurants and bars on-site, but food quality and variety receives lots of complaints. Couples seeking a quieter experience may want to check out the more intimate Oyster Residences.
Scene
A family-centric resort with manicured grounds and some dated public spaces
Montebello Resort is a family-oriented property, thanks to its animation team, kids’ club, and pool with waterslide. Taking this into consideration, it can get noisy, though many couples report a relaxing atmosphere as well. This is in large part to its prime location, within walking distance of the beach and Blue Lagoon, plus its main pool has lovely views of the Babadag Mountains and the paragliders sailing by. Architecturally, the hotel follows the traditional style of area properties: a low-rise villa with red-tile roofs. A more interesting aspect is the river pool that meanders through the complex, however it's only for aesthetics and not for wading. Lovely manicured lawns and paved walkways flank terraces with modern smoked-glass railings and outdoor seating. The lobby sports lots of this glass, as well as gray tile floors, modern white wood furniture with Mediterranean-blue cushions, and Grecian statues and columns, sprinkled throughout to provide a historical nod to the town’s origins. The resort's design is mostly contemporary, though a granite front desk surrounded by promotional material, and the pool bar's wicker chairs with patterned cushions are on the dated side.
Location
Close to beaches, with shuttles and buses to other nearby attractions
The resort is located within an easy five- to 10-minute walk to the beach and the town’s center, where there are restaurants, bars, retail shops, and paragliding agencies. Outside the resort’s front door, there are free shuttle buses to the Blue Lagoon and Billy’s Beach, which is good for snorkeling and spotting turtles, and Sea Horse Beach, which is sandy and has canoes to rent. Just down the road from the resort are public buses that go to Hisaronu, a village with restaurants, spas, and souvenir shops; it's about a five-minute ride or nearly an hour walk. Fethiye, a lovely seaside town with cultural attractions such as a castle, ruins, amphitheater, and museum, is about 30 minutes away by car. Dalaman Airport is an hour's drive away.
Rooms
Contemporary, air-conditioned rooms with balconies, overlooking the pools or mountains
Rooms aren't quite elegant but they're contemporary, outfitted in two-tone wooden furniture, neutral-tone floors and walls, and either teal or baby-pink bedding and matching curtains. Some have accents walls with patterned paper and all have landscape artwork. They're most notable feature are the furnished balconies or patios with smoked-glass panels and views of either the gorgeous Babadag Mountains or the pools. All rooms have armchairs and work desks, as well as air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges with soda and water. Safes are available for a fee and though Wi-Fi is free, it's patchy. Bathrooms are up-to-date with glass shower stalls, wall-mounted hairdryers, essential toiletries, and slippers. The resort has rooms in four choices: 140 Standard Rooms at 22 square meters (237 square feet), two accessible rooms that are the same size, four Junior Suites at 31 square meters (334 square feet), and four Family Rooms at 40 square meters (430 square feet).
Features
All-inclusive resort with choice of pools and restaurants, but food receives poor reviews
The all-inclusive resort has a ton of features, though some receives less-than-stellar reviews. The large main pool is pleasant, surrounded by ample lounge chairs, tables, and umbrellas. The views of the pine-tree clad mountains are beautiful from this area as well. There are also a round children’s pool with a sprinkler, and a small pool with two waterslides. Other kid-friendly features include an animation team, theater, kids’ club, and playground, though past guests report that the entertainment and activities are limited during certain periods. A free shuttle takes guests to famous Oludeniz Beach.Near the pool, the restaurants and bars offer food and drinks plus plenty of outdoor seating. Likya restaurant serves buffet-style breakfast and lunch and doubles as a snack bar during the day. Myra restaurant serves dinner buffet-style. The food gets lots of poor reviews in regard to variety and quality. A mini-market on-site sells food as well as sundries. The Likya, Myra, and Sante bars provide alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. There is a fee for imported drinks and the all-inclusive package has a limited time frame for alcohol. A large Turkish bath is available, as is the spa's sauna, steam room, and treatment rooms. A hair salon is also on-site. The gym is small, equipped with just a few pieces of equipment and free weights. Other active amenities include table tennis, billiards, and darts. Wi-Fi is free but finicky throughout the hotel.
