The upper-middle-range Hotel Greenland is a popular resort on the Turquoise Coast of Turkey, though it's not within walking distance of area beaches. This 160-room all-inclusive is packed full of amenities: It has two large pools, ample sports and games facilities, and a sauna, as well as a restaurant and several bars. Contemporary rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and outdoor spaces, though some lower-category rooms can be small. The hotel's secluded setting means it’s quiet, but it also means the nearest town, Hisaronu, is a 45-minute walk down a steep hill. Travelers who want to be a bit closer to the action may prefer the all-inclusive Alize Hotel, which has ample family-friendly features and is a five-minute walk from the beach.
Scene
Park-like setting with family-friendly atmosphere
Hotel Greenland has a park-like setting, complete with paved paths, neatly trimmed shrubbery, park benches, and lamp posts. Though they have all the typical amenities of an Oludeniz resort, they manage to sneak in some additional assets, such as hammocks, mini-golf, and garden chess. Interiors are filled with a range of contemporary furnishings in mostly soft tones; the lobby has neutral-tone decor under a wood-beam ceiling with gothic chandeliers, while the Therras Bar has a swirled-steel bar and seating in different shades of purple. The pretty grounds surrounded by lush mountains set the resort apart from its competitors, as does the quietness stemming from its distance to the town attractions. Most action takes place around the main pool with a waterslide, though there's also a sunny, quiet pool for more relax-minded guests. The clientele is an even split of families and couples, most hailing from Britain.
Location
Secluded location but within an easy drive to attractions
Set among the pine trees dotting the Babadag mountains, the hotel is secluded from the hubbub of Oludeniz. Not only is it remote, it’s up a steep hill -- the property is filled with steps that may be difficult for some. While there’s plenty to do at Hotel Greenland, guests wanting to explore the area can take a 45-minute walk to the town of Hisaronu or a 10-minute taxi ride. It’s slightly farther (15 minutes) to get to the Oludeniz beaches, including Billy’s Beach and Sea Horse Beach Club. The hotel does offer a free shuttle to area beaches. Another town worth exploring is Fethiye, a 20-minute drive away. This seaside town has cultural attractions, including a museum, ruins, and a Roman theatre. Dalaman Airport is about an hour’s drive from the hotel.
Rooms
Warmly decorated rooms with outdoor spaces
Hotel Greenland has rooms that combine serenity and sophistication through earthy brown and gold fabrics in the bedding, wallpaper behind the beds, and curtains, combined with pine wood furniture, parquet flooring, and arched interior doorways. Some rooms have burgundy pillows with embroidered tree branches, and some have bench seats under the windows. All have furnished balconies or patios with views of the pool and mountains or gardens. The hotel has the typical Standard and Deluxe Rooms with family options, and then there are a variety of suites: Elegance with in-room whirlpool, Honeymoon with glass partition between the bedroom and bathroom, and Passion with a red circular bed and whirlpool) rooms. All rooms come with air-conditioning, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges holding soda, water, and snacks, plus closets with safes and slippers.Bathrooms are well-lit and modern, outfitted in granite countertops, and either showers or shower/tub combos. Wall-mounted magnifying mirrors, hairdryers, and toiletries are also provided. Some of the Standard Rooms can be a bit small.
Features
Well-received restaurant, bars, and pools, but the gym falls short
This all-inclusive property has ample facilities for both adults and children. There are two large pool areas, one with a waterslide and one that's quiet, though they're reportedly cold. Both have separate shallow pools for kids and they're surrounded by plenty of loungers and umbrellas. Also on-site are a theater, an animation team, and a TV room. There's no spa but a barber and beauty shop receives positive feedback. A tiny fitness center has a handful of equipment, but it could use an update. Other ways to get active include water aerobics, mini-golf, and use of the basketball and tennis courts. Wi-Fi if free throughout. The main buffet restaurant has a rustic appeal with its wood-beam ceiling, stone half-wall, and wooden slat chairs. There is also a snack bar (pool bar) and a mini-market. And while there is no a la carte restaurant, the hotel offers ice cream, freshly made Turkish pancakes, and soup at set times throughout the day. Food gets mostly rave reviews from guests, particularly the pancakes and kebabs. The hotel has four bars: the Tipsy Turvy, the pool bar, Sun and Chill bar, and Therras bar. Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are part of the inclusive rate.
