Spacious rooms at this budget-friendly property include kitchenettes, and those facing the beach offer beautiful views. Renovations are underway, and some of the rooms still await updating, including the bathrooms and kitchenettes. An outdoor pool and the indoor pool with a sky-dome ceiling are popular features. Travelers might also want to check out the Sleep Inn & Suites, which is a about 15-minute walk south of the Boardwalk -- it includes breakfast but not the same ocean views as the Double Tree.

The look of this family-friendly Double Tree recalls the late '70s/early '80s, especially the bright red-blue-and-orange patterned carpeting and faux marble in the lobby, and the stone-walls along the stairwell. The Oceans at 33rd restaurant, which serves only breakfast, continues the retro vibe, with leopard-print carpeting and green bamboo-stalk columns. The outdoor pool is encircled by lounge chairs and offers lovely beach views, and the kidney-shaped indoor pool has a sky-dome ceiling and glass walls. The mosaic tiling around both pools, though, looks a bit worn. The hotel's beachfront location and proximity to the Boardwalk and an amusement parks draws lots of families, but many couples pass through too.

The hotel faces the ocean in the southern part of Ocean City, and the narrow edge of its rectangular building faces a quiet beach. While the hotel is surrounded by shops and restaurants, it manages to stay fairly quiet. The Boardwalk starts five blocks away on 28th Street (the hotel is on 33rd), and it’s a five-minute walk to the Splash Mountain Water Park and a seven-minute walk to the Jolly Roger Amusement Park. It’s a five-minute drive or a 15-minute walk to the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, and a 12-minute drive to the Tanger Outlets. Ocean City Municipal Airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel.

The 110 guest rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean City Oceanfront Beachfront Ocean City are being updated, with new gray carpeting, pink curtains, and wood furnishings. Kitchenettes, which come with stoves, microwaves, full refrigerators, and dishwashers, have older formica cabinets and countertops, and bathrooms look like a throwback to the '70s, with pink or white hexagon tile floors and dated vanities. Bathrooms have curtained shower/tub combos, although some come with jetted tubs and stall showers. Oceanview Rooms have small balconies. All rooms include flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi.
