A solid pick for budget beach-goers and families, the Comfort Inn Boardwalk has direct oceanfront access and a main spot on the boardwalk. While the outdoor pool and beach can get crowded during summer weekends, the prime location makes a car unnecessary and guests can walk to cafes and shops. The hotel is comprised of two buildings: city-view and oceanfront. The city view building has a heated indoor pool. The oceanfront building has a small outdoor pool and serves a basic breakfast in the lobby (but seating is limited). There is no restaurant on-site, but many dining options nearby. The hotel shows some signs of wear but rooms are decent-sized and come with kitchenettes, balconies (some ocean-facing), and coffeemakers among other amenities.
Scene
Value beachfront hotel
A central location directly on the boardwalk gives the Comfort Inn Boardwalk an upbeat vibe. Expect plenty of young visitors and families, and a crowded pool area during summer weekends. The hotel consists of two buildings which are not connected. The city-view building has an indoor heated pool. The oceanfront building has a small outdoor pool. The pastel-colored lobby is small but it's clean and well kept, and the hotel's fantastic location is hard to beat.
Location
Ideal location directly on the beach and the heart of the boardwalk
Comfort Inn Boardwalk is right on the beach on a main section of the boardwalk. The hotel is surrounded by other hotels and condos but there are plenty of stores and restaurants within walking distance. The location is convenient for beachgoers who want to be in the heart of the action. Jolly Roger at the Pier amusement park (home to the city’s landmark ferris wheel) is a short walk from the hotel (12 minutes) and less than five minutes by car. Families with kids will appreciate the convenience to the lower end of the boardwalk where the rides and games are found. The hotel is minutes from the Convention Center, Assateague Island National Seashore, Ocean Downs Racetrack, and Chincoteague Bay.
Rooms
Decent-sized rooms with kitchenettes and semi-private balcony
Rooms are a nice size, decorated in earthy colors, and come with kitchenettes, balconies, and sleeper sofas. Oceanfront rooms have the best views, particularly on the higher floors. Parts of the hotel show wear and tear (e.g. closets, doorknobs). In general, rooms are clean but some issues with superficial cleanliness were noted (mold in bathrooms, sand in the couch cushions). Rooms that face the boardwalk are noisier on lower floors, especially the first level. All rooms have free Wi-Fi. Rooms have mini-fridges, coffeemakers, microwaves, toasters, and some have a kitchenette with two burners (but no oven).
Features
Prime location on the beach and boardwalk with free breakfast and indoor/outdoor pools
Beach-goers have direct ocean access as well as a spot on the main section of the boardwalk at the affordable Comfort Inn Boardwalk. There are two pools to choose from in separate buildings -- an indoor heated pool and a tiny outdoor one with a tendency to get overcrowded on summer weekends. If guests are willing to overlook the general wear and tear of the hotel for the convenient location, it's a solid pick. The free breakfast includes outdoor seating, though limited, and features eggs, meat, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, waffles and more. It's an ideal location for beach-goers, both young and old, as well as families with children who prefer to walk to the cafes and attractions. Guests can park the car and leave it for the weekend making the hotel a great place to unwind.
