Scene

Older, budget-friendly hotel with clean spaces and colorful decor

Families and some couples choose Cayman Suites for its clean environment at a budget-friendly price. The hotel is a long, unremarkable building on the outside. Balconies look over the street and outdoor hallways line the back side of the building. Inside, the lobby is small and busy, but cheerful with yellow walls and bright, colorful paintings. Bright yellows and blues dominate common areas with whimsical artwork depicting fish and sea life scattered throughout. The building is old and some wear is evident, though it is mostly well-kept and clean throughout. Guests consistently report positive experiences with staff and appreciate the friendly atmosphere.

Location

A two-minute walk from the beach and restaurants; a drive to popular sites

This hotel is on the eastern side of Coastal Highway, a few minutes’ drive south of the state border. A beautiful beach is a two-minute walk from the hotel. On either side of the hotel there are only hotels and residences, but across the highway there's a variety of shops and restaurants, and a mini-golf course. Also across the street, a five-minute walk from the hotel, is a large park with walking paths and a playground. There is a local bus stop a minute walk from the hotel. For those with a car, it is an 11-minute drive to Seacrets, a restaurant and popular nightclub with multiple stages. Getting to the livelier end of the boardwalk with shops, entertainment, and Jolly Roger at the Pier will require a 20-minute drive.

Rooms

Modest decor in suites with a separate living room and kitchenette

Rooms are fairly generic, with the exception of pretty blue accent walls in the bedroom and living room. Bedrooms have either a king-size or two queen beds with a flat-screen TV and DVD player, and a door that closes. All bedrooms have a balcony over the busy street, and some guests find the noise disturbing at night. Living rooms have a sleeper sofa and another TV and DVD player. There are also a small dining table with two chairs and kitchenette sharing the space. A mini-fridge, microwave, sink, and two electric burners are a handy place to prepare a snack or light meal, but likely not enough for a full dinner. All rooms also have a coffeemaker, iron, and safe. Bathrooms are basic with a curtained shower/tub combo and a small sink with some counter space. Soap, lotion, and shower gel are free, and a hairdryer is provided.

Features

Heated indoor pool, game room, a small fitness room, and free Wi-Fi

A heated indoor pool is a nice alternative to the beach on rainy days. It is enclosed in a sun room with a glass roof -- keeping direct sunlight off swimmers -- and there are cushioned plastic chairs all around. Outside the pool is a small sundeck with a few lounge chairs. A multipurpose game room offers alternative activities with coin-operated arcade games and air hockey sharing space with a piano, long sofa, and activity table. The dated fitness room is a bit tight on space, offering just a few cardio machines and some weight-training equipment. There's no restaurant or bar on-site. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
