Aqua Oasis

Formerly the Waikiki Joy Hotel, Aqua Oasis is a cheerful boutique property that was renovated and rebranded in 2014. The 11-story white building is fronted by palm trees and has turquoise signage, a precursor to the casual, upbeat atmosphere inside. Colorful contemporary decor and numerous tropical plants are found inside the hotel and around its grounds, including the open-air lobby. Guests can relax on wooden benches near a small pool with koi fish and turtles. An attractive but narrow sundeck near the small pool is decorated with orange sunbeds and woven swing chairs with floral cushions. Many guests are young couples or friends looking for a comfortable, affordable place to relax and unwind after exploring Waikiki or a day at the beach. 

The Aqua Oasis is located in the center of Waikiki, just a couple minutes' walk down the street from Luxury Row. The shopping center features Chanel and Gucci boutiques, among other high-end shops. Waikiki Beach is a seven-minute walk from the hotel, and the property offers guests free use of chairs and beach towels. There are also numerous restaurants and bars on the streets immediately surrounding the property, while art galleries and a surf school are within a five-minute walk. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to Ala Moana, home to the largest open-air shopping mall in the world, about eight minutes away. Honolulu Zoo and the Waikiki Aquarium are also about an eight-minute drive away. Diamond Head State Monument is a 13-minute drive. Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is a 21-minute drive from the hotel. 

The 94 rooms and suites at the Aqua Oasis are decorated with fun, colorful decor that echoes the hotel lobby. Contemporary, if a little worn, the rooms feature bright turquoise accents, floral patterned textiles, and trendy wood paneling behind the beds. Standing lamps with wooden tripod bases are a stylish touch. Small colorful paintings hang on the beige walls. All rooms have narrow balconies with simple patio chairs and small tables. Views are of the streets and buildings of Waikiki. Some rooms can experience late-night noise from the club located next door. Beige bathrooms are bland but sufficient, outfitted with shower/tub combos, a good amount of counter space, and free toiletries. All rooms have mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and flat-screen TVs. Large office desks, free Wi-Fi, and safes are also provided. Suites offer sitting rooms, separate bedrooms (in some), and kitchens with stovetops, microwaves, toasters, and full-size fridges. 

The best feature of the Aqua Oasis is its great location, within a short walk of Waikiki Beach and surrounded by restaurants, bars, and shopping. On-site features, however, are limited. An outdoor pool is tiny and it has an adjacent narrow sundeck with several cushioned lounge chairs. Free continental breakfast is served daily and includes pastries, toast, bagels, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, juices, and coffee. However, there is not a full restaurant or bar.The hotel's free shuttle service to Ala Moana is a nice convenience for guests who want to explore that town’s shopping and dining. Vending machines with soda are available in the hotel along with laundry facilities (for a fee). Parking is valet only, for a fee. Note that the hotel also charges a daily resort fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
