Bottom Line

This two-pearl Econo Lodge, situated at the intersection of two highways outside of Hendersonville, mainly attracts motorists seeking somewhere to spend the night on a budget. It's a worn and dated property that doesn't offer much in terms of features, though there is a small seasonal outdoor pool as well as a free breakfast. Other freebies include Wi-Fi and parking. Guest rooms are tired and lackluster, but they're equipped with flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and en-suite bathrooms, plus some have whirlpool tubs. Many guests complain of cleanliness issues, however, so it might be worth checking out some alternatives. The Best Western Hendersonville Inn is a bit more expensive, but is clean, well maintained, and has a restaurant.

Scene

Budget chain property with dated interiors

This budget hotel from the Econo Lodge chain occupies a two-story mustard-colored building with a red roof and exterior hallways that are flanked by a parking lot. Interiors are about what you'd expect from a budget chain and could use some updating. The lobby doubles as a breakfast room, furnished with round tables and chairs as well as offering some couches and armchairs in which to relax. Besides this space, there are no other common areas to gather in. Guests are usually short-stay budget travelers, truckers, and others passing through the area that are seeking somewhere to sleep for one night.

Location

Near intersection of two highways; a seven-minute drive into town

The hotel is situated near the intersection of Interstate 26 and Highway 64 on the outskirts of Hendersonville. There are a couple of similar properties in the area, such as a Red Roof Inn, as well as a handful of fast food dining options. The Blue Ridge Mall is a three-minute drive away, plus there are many more restaurants, bars, and shops in the city center, which is about a seven-minute drive from the hotel. There are a couple of attractions in town, such as the Mineral & Lapidary Museum (eight-minute drive), the Hands On! Children's Museum (eight-minute drive), the Historic Railroad Depot (six-minute drive), and the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site (16-minute drive). Asheville is about a half-hour drive northwest, where guests will find many dining options, art galleries, shops, and attractions like the Biltmore Estate. Asheville Regional Airport is about a 15-minute drive from the hotel. The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is about a 60-minute drive.

Rooms

Dated, tired rooms have flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers; cleanliness issues are common

Rooms here feature lackluster and dated decor. Wooden furnishings are worn and could use an update. Beds are topped with colorful bedspreads and patterned bed runners that clash with patterned curtains, and floors are either covered in carpeting or wood linoleum. Cleanliness can be improved, and many guests complain of stains, odors, and cigarette smells in non-smoking rooms. Some rooms have accent walls covered in wallpaper, but it's peeling and due for an upgrade. All rooms have work desks with ergonomic chairs as well as armchairs, while larges spaces have sofas and wet bars. Other standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms consist of external sink vanities outside of the bath/toilet rooms, which are small and equipped with shower/tub combos. Wall-mounted hairdryers and limited toiletries are provided. Some rooms have whirlpool tubs. Most rooms have windows that overlook a short grassy hill leading down to the parking lot.

Features

Limited features include seasonal outdoor pool and free breakfast

This budget hotel offers limited features and lacks a restaurant, bar, or fitness facilities. There's not much in terms of common spaces besides the lobby, which doubles as a breakfast room. A free basic continental breakfast is served daily and includes make-your-own waffle stations as well as cereals, bread, pastries, and coffee. The hotel has a small outdoor pool that's open seasonally, but it overlooks the parking lot and is not particularly attractive. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, as is parking on the hotel's lot. Pets are allowed for a fee.
