Bottom Line

This 25-room, four-pearl property is a tasteful oasis tucked
away in a quiet residential neighborhood just outside the City Centre. Rooms
are spacious and well decorated with outdoor sitting areas offering great
city or ocean views or a spot by the lush tropical garden near an outdoor pool.
While within walking distance of many of Nice’s top attractions, the hilltop
hotel could be a bit of a difficult climb for some guests. For a boutique
property a little more central to the city, consider the La Villa Nice Victor
Hugo, which also may offer lower rates.

Scene

Quiet, classy, and cozy with a lush tropical garden

The Hotel du Petit Palais is a beautiful early 20th
century villa that once was the residence of noted French actor and playwright
Sacha Guitry. The boutique property’s warm earth tones, Buddha statues, Asian
artwork and lush tropical garden with pool, large palm trees, and secluded
seating areas create a quiet oasis to relax following a busy day
of enjoying the beach and Old Town. A small, granite-top bar in the corner of
the cozy dining area adds to the comfortable, casual feel. Rich red carpeting,
floor lamps, and dark wood chairs lining the halls add more tasteful touches.

Location

In a posh, quiet neighborhood away from the tourist bustle

The Hotel du Petit Palais is located in a quiet residential
neighborhood of Cimiez, surrounded by impressive 19th and early 20th
century villas. It's just outside the City Centre of Nice, about a 15-minute
walk to Old Town and the city’s train station. The Museé National Marc Chagall
is approximately a 10-minute walk, as is Nice Etoile Shopping Center. The
city’s airport is approximately 11 minutes by car. For those who like to walk
in the picturesque city, the city’s beaches are about a 30-minute walk. But,
the hotel rests atop a steep hill that some people may find difficult or
uncomfortable to climb.

Rooms

Spacious and simply decorated with outdoor sitting areas

Rooms are spacious and simply yet tastefully decorated with
cream walls and brown bedding accents that are complemented by Asian art, antique wood chairs, writing desks, and nightstands. Terrace rooms have additional
space for a bit more furniture, as well as an elegant outdoor terrace with a
table and chairs, two lounge chairs, and views of the old city and
ocean. Balcony rooms have a smaller outdoor area with bistro table and two
chairs, with a city view. Garden rooms have a cozy outdoor sitting area on the
ground floor secluded by shrubbery and plants. All rooms have the same bathroom
design with tan granite vanities and tub/shower combos.
They're a bit small but not cramped with magnifying mirrors and toiletries. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, electronic safes, robes, free Wi-Fi, and minibars.

Features

Buffet breakfast; outdoor pool in a lush, secluded garden; concierge, and free on-site parking

A buffet and continental breakfast are available in a small
dining room but not included in the room rate. The three-stool bar is adjacent
to the dining area, and limited room service is also available. Free parking surrounds the hotel, and private parking can
be arranged. Concierge and babysitting services are offered, as are dry
cleaning and laundry services. A small outdoor pool is located in a lush,
secluded garden area where guests also can eat breakfast or enjoy their drinks.
A gift shop is in the lobby. Free Wi-Fi is available in all public spaces,
and a small business desk has a computer and printer. Free newspapers are offered as well.
