Scene

Open and welcoming, with equal parts families and couples as guests

The entrance of the hotel is tucked into a covered parkway, and guests walk into a spacious, open lobby with plenty of seating, dark wood, and open staircases to the next floor. The large reception desk is to one side, and the center of the room features a fireplace and a variety of sofas and armchairs. On the other side of the seating is a coffee shop with both indoor and outdoor patio seating. Elevators are nearby, as well as entrances to a souvenir shop, art gallery featuring paintings and sculptures by local artists, Aveda spa and salon, tour desk with travel information, and a UPS store.Considering its location, this property largely attracts tourists looking to visit the falls. However, guests here are about equal parts families and couples; while families appreciate the pool and laundry room, couples enjoy the spa and lovely views.

Location

On a busy street in the middle of the Fallsview district

Tucked between restaurants and hotels on Stanley Avenue, the DoubleTree Fallsview is just a few blocks away from Niagara Falls and its nearby attractions. Though the road is fairly busy, the sidewalks are well-maintained and walking is safe and convenient. A number of dining and entertainment options are nearby, as well as popular attractions such as Skylon Tower, the Niagara Skywheel, Fallsview Waterpark, and the Casino Niagara. For guests that prefer not to walk, this hotel is on the WEGO transportation route and is a short drive from the falls.

Rooms

Bright and clean, with views of the falls

With large standards and spacious suites, the rooms at this hotel are contemporary and clean. Decor is a bit bland -- picture somewhat flimsy wooden furniture and earth-toned chairs and beds -- but all rooms feature views of the American Falls or the river, and include coffeemakers, mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi, and windows that open to let in fresh air. Guests who want more room or premium views should consider booking one of the whirlpool rooms or suites on the higher floors, which include features like pull-out sofas, separate sitting and sleeping areas, whirlpool bathtubs, multiple televisions, and panoramic views. The seventh floor is a designated smoking floor.

Features

A large hotel with plenty of great features

With a wide variety of convenient and fun amenities, the DoubleTree Fallsview Resort & Spa is a solid mid-range option. The main lobby includes a coffee shop, Aveda spa and salon (often hard to find in similar mid-range hotels), art gallery, souvenir and convenience shop, and UPS store. The lower lobby includes vending and snack machines and a well-equipped fitness center, cedar sauna, indoor pool and whirlpool, outdoor whirlpool with a patio, guest laundry room, and business center with printer. Ballrooms and meeting spaces are located upstairs, as well as the on-site restaurant Buchanans, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hotel also offers free Wi-Fi in guest rooms and public areas. Parking is free during the day, but overnight guests must pay a fee.
