Midtown location is convenient for both business and sightseeing
All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and coffeemakers
Larger rooms than at other similarly priced hotels in the neighborhood

Modern fitness center is small and dark
Few rooms have nice views; most look out at the walls of other buildings
The convenient Midtown location -- within walking distance of numerous sights, subways, and businesses -- is the main draw at this mid-range property. Rooms are modern (if bland) and there's an extensive free breakfast, but there aren't many features aside from the cramped, dark fitness center. It's a solid option for the price in this tourist-centric neighborhood, but it's worth comparing rates with the nearby (and nicer) Paramount Hotel.
Scene
Attracting business, leisure, and international guests, The Hotel at Times Square is a lively property and a solid, mid-range option.
The bright, cheery lobby at The Hotel at Times Square seems to be bustling with guests around the clock; business travelers check their email at the business center's Mac computers, families watch the news as they relax on the comfy couches between activities, and tourists check in with the concierge on must-see sights and tours. Yet rooms are conveniently quiet and feature modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi, large flat-screen TVs with cable, and coffeemakers. The tasty (and free) continental breakfast is a highlight, and the fitness center is modern (if dark and cramped). Room decor is fresh but bland. Still, The Hotel at Times Square is a nice option for families and business travelers looking for an affordable and convenient home base.
Location
Located in Midtown -- on 46th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues -- The Hotel at Times Square boasts a convenient location for both business and leisure travelers.
The hotel is within walking distance of numerous attractions -- including Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and Bryant Park -- as well as seven subway lines. It is situated an avenue east of the heart of Times Square, and the location is significantly quieter than some parts of Midtown. Plus, there is a nice public plaza across the street.
Rooms
The decor is simple, but rooms provide free Wi-Fi, large flat-screen TVs with cable, and coffeemakers.
While the hotel's lobby is bright, most rooms are relatively dark, with small windows looking out at brick walls. The red-and-green decor and minimal lighting don't help, but rooms -- though average-size for New York City at about 200 square feet -- are larger than those found at some similarly priced options in the area. (Rooms at the Paramount Hotel, for example, are more stylish, but smaller.) Bathrooms include toiletries such as hairdryers, shampoo, and soap, and all rooms feature closets equipped with irons and ironing boards, wooden hangers, and safes. Some rooms have nice views of the plaza across the street.
Features
The hotel offers minimal features; the highlight is the extensive continental breakfast.
The Hotel at Times Square provides the features one may expect at a mid-range property; there is a small fitness center, a business center in the lobby, and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The fitness center, while cramped, is modern and has several cardio machines, while the business center features two Mac computers for guest use. The highlight here is the free continental breakfast. Served daily, it offers hot items such as waffles, eggs, and bagels, as well as cold cereals and yogurts. Guests can also sip on free 24-hour coffee, and the lobby provides free copies of USA Today on weekdays.
