The Benjamin

The stately architecture and elegant decor of the Benjamin sets it apart from neighboring skyscrapers and bland office buildings in Midtown East. The dimly lit lobby has high ceilings and refined decor that creates an impressive, cavernous setting. The Benjamin is located at 50th Street and Lexington Avenue, in a mini-Midtown East hotel district that serves corporate travelers doing business in the surrounding skyscrapers. Across the street is the 51st Street stop on the 6 subway line, which runs up and down the eastern side of Manhattan and through Grand Central Station. Central Park is also in walking distance (about 10 blocks). One of the main subway hubs in the city is only eight blocks away. Several of the city's top tourist attractions -- Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Times Square, the theater district, and Fifth Avenue -- are all within a 15-minute walk.

Rooms at the Benjamin reflect the property's sophisticated and subdued atmosphere. They are spacious and bright, with large windows that (often) feature views of bustling Midtown below; some rooms have terraces. Beds are particularly comfortable and a pillow menu helps to ensure a good night's sleep. All rooms have a kitchenette with coffeemaker, flat-screen TV, and iPod dock. Bathrooms are similarly spacious and have Elemis toiletries, but there is a pesky fee for Wi-Fi.

One of the hotel's best features is The National -- an acclaimed bistro restaurant from celebrity Chef Geoffrey Zakarian. The setting is warm and inviting, and the menu remains popular with locals and visitors alike. There is an on-site fitness center;  Federico Hair & Spa, a hair and nail salon; and business center. Business guests can also register with the hotel to receive extra perks, such as free shoe shines and personal shoppers. Pets are also welcome at the hotel, for a daily fee, and the hotel offers impressive pet amenities from Bark Box. There is a fee for Wi-Fi.
