The Comfort Inn Central Park West is a solid budget option on Manhattan's quiet Upper West Side. Though the rooms are dated and some are small, the hotel offers basic amenities and some perks, including free breakfast, newspapers, and Wi-Fi. Prices are often among the lowest in this great location, just down the street from Central Park and near some of the city's best museums. It's also worth considering the nearby, and nicer, NYLO New York City and Belleclaire New York, which can have similar rates.
Scene
This quiet property is popular with tour groups and budget-friendly travelers.
Comfort Inn Central Park West is popular with large groups looking for a quiet refuge from the bustle of tourist-laden Midtown. The neighborhood is primarily residential, and the pace and atmosphere is slower here than elsewhere in Manhattan. Like the rest of the hotel's common areas, the lobby -- with its oversized leather sofas and mirrored walls -- is dated. The entire property is in need of a refresh, but the space is clean and tidy.
Location
On a quiet street on the Upper West Side, near museums and five subway lines
The hotel's Upper West Side location is one of the property's biggest draws. The hotel is on a tree-lined street full of beautiful brownstones -- a hallmark of the residential neighborhood -- and just down the street from lovely Central Park. The subway is also half a block away. Kid-friendly museums such as the Children's Museum of Manhattan, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Hayden Planetarium make this a prime spot for families looking to get away from the tourist crowds in Times Square.
Rooms
Rooms are clean with basic amenities and flat-screen TVs, though some are small.
The rooms at the Comfort Inn are clean and functional, and the decor and amenities are standard for a hotel of this caliber. Many of the rooms are small even for New York City, with space for a bed, a dresser and some walking space. Guests might prefer staying on the lower floors in order to avoid using the elevator, which moves slowly serving the entire hotel. One noteworthy highlight for some rooms -- especially those on higher floors -- is lovely views of the NYC skyline and Upper West Side neighborhoods.
Features
Free Wi-Fi, newspapers in the lobby, and breakfast
Free continental breakfast and a small business center off the lobby round out the major features at the Comfort Inn. The breakfast area, however, is small and tables go fast in the morning.
