Wedged between Chelsea, Flatiron District, and the increasingly cool NoMad area, the Wyndham Garden Hotel is eye-catching from the street, with a column of red, orange, blue, and green tiles covering the center of its facade from top to bottom. Inside, fun and lighthearted lobby decor matches the hotel's colorful exterior: bright accent walls, contemporary art pieces, and large paper overhead lamps. The hotel has hosted a carousel of on-site Italian restaurants; the most current one, Capatosta, is currently closed.

The Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan Chelsea West sits less than a block from small but beautiful Madison Square Park, near the Empire State Building, the Flatiron Building, the Museum of Sex, and the Fashion Institute of Technology, as well as many shops and restaurants.- One block from the F subway line; two blocks from the 1 and R subway lines; four blocks from the 6 subway line

While the hotel exterior and lobby have a funky look, rooms have a more natural, subdued design, with light-wood furniture, beige-and-brown carpeting, khaki-colored bedspreads, and vintage-style floor and table lamps. Framed prints of black-and-white photography and vintage NYC subway maps hang on the pale blue-gray or warm ivory walls. All rooms have large flat-screen TVs. Freestanding wood closets contain irons facilities and ice buckets. Most room categories have shower stalls and no tubs, though a few larger rooms have shower/tub combos. Blue Harmony bath products are provided.Standard room types are around 200 square feet -- small, but about average for a New York hotel room. King Suite with Balcony rooms are slightly larger at about 300 square feet and include a walkout balcony (a rare feature in New York). One-Bedroom Balcony Suites are 400 square feet, and have a separate living area with a couch and walkout balcony. King rooms and suites come with mini-fridges and microwaves.

Capatosta -- the latest on-site eatery iteration -- has closed, joining Italian restaurants Tre Stelle and San Rocco before it. Guests can access an off-site fitness area, use the lone in-lobby computer station, and grab a free Wall Street Journal and USA Today, but that's about it.
