Bottom Line

Executive Hotel LeSoleil is a three-and-a-half-pearl charming boutique with a Midtown location that’s a good choice for those who want to explore New York City on foot. The hotel offers impressive amenities for its small size like a gym, coffee bar, restaurant, and meeting rooms. The 162 rooms are well-outfitted with flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffeemakers, and minibars, though they are small -- which isn’t a surprise for New York City hotels. Some rooms have incredible views of the city's skyline. Travelers might want to check out Morgans, a nearby hotel with free breakfast and slightly larger rooms with closets.

Scene

Charming boutique hotel with an elegant design and hip vibe

The Executive Hotel LeSoleil has a lot going for it, like a 2015 construction and a walkable central location in Midtown. This charming boutique has sun-inspired carpets, a wood-paneled front desk, and a quaint sitting room with contemporary gray chairs and couches set in front of a gas fireplace. Hanging black lamps and walls with crown molding add to the overall look. The decor is inherently classic and contemporary with a hint of the elegance found in the 1920s. This is pretty clear in the hotel’s hip restaurant and speakeasy-like bar with textured walls, wooden tables and black chairs, black-and-white photographs, and a cool bar with hanging bulbous lights. With the smaller-sized rooms and the upscale nature, couples and business travelers are the predominant clientele of this boutique.

Location

Central location that makes it easy to reach many major attractions on foot

The Executive Hotel LeSoleil is located in the Fashion District in Midtown, just a five-minute walk away from the Empire State Building. It has a central location and is surrounded by restaurants, bars, and shops galore. The bright lights of Time Square take 14 minutes to reach on foot, while Central Park is a 28-minute walk away. Travelers can grab a subway and explore other parts of the city in just a four-minute walk away or hop on a bus at a stop around the corner. It’s a 35-minute drive to JFK International Airport.

Rooms

Small rooms with stylish decor, Keurig coffeemakers, minibars, and flat-screen TVs

As is often the case with New York, the rooms here are a bit on the small side. But the decor is chic and elegant with tan carpet, white beds with gold, gray, and brown accents, and furniture that’s made up of glass, chrome legs, and blond wood drawers. There’s an open-floor closet with drawers, shelves, and rods to hang clothes though it’s pretty full with robes, umbrellas, and ironing boards. Amenities include Keurig coffeemakers, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, minibars, and flat-screen TVs. Surprising enough, the bathroom is a bit more spacious than might be expected and has sleek black countertops and tiles and blond wooden accents. Most rooms have showers, though some have shower/tub combos, and also include ACCA KAPPA toiletries and hairdryers. Some rooms have wonderful skyline views from floor-to-ceiling windows, while cheaper rooms face a neighboring building.

Features

Gym, restaurant, coffee bar, meeting rooms, business center, and valet parking

Executive Hotel LeSoleil may be a boutique property but it offers a solid handful of features. The hotel offers a gym with a few cardio and weight machines. The hotel also offers discounted access to a local gym for those interested in personal trainers and fitness classes. In-room massages are available. As for dining options, Trademark Taste is an American restaurant with comfort foods and cocktails, while Trademark Grind is a hip coffee bar that offers pastries, breakfast (for a fee), coffee drinks, and cocktails in the afternoon and evening. Business travelers can take advantage of free Wi-Fi, a business center with desktops and a printer, and two fully-equipped meeting rooms. The hotel is pet-friendly, though pets incur a charge. Self-parking and valet parking are provided for a fee.
