Stylish, mostly white rooms offer separate sitting areas and kitchenettes or kitchens, though they lack microwaves, some cookware, and sufficient dishes. Fridges, coffeemakers, robes, and rainfall showers add comfort, while furnished outdoor spaces offer pretty vistas. Rooms have either private or shared pools. The family of owners provide delicious meals -- including an excellent free breakfast buffet -- at the on-site restaurant. With little to do on-site or in the surrounding area, guests will need to plan for transportation to visit the rest of the island. Those looking for a hotel closer to the beach and sites should check out Naxos Island Hotel on the coast in Agios Prokopis.
Scene
Relaxed, family-run hotel with chic interiors
This small, family-owned hotel offers guests -- both couples and families -- a lovely, homey environment amid chic surrounds. Guests rave about the friendliness and personal attention they receive from the family of owners. From a warm welcome and spot-on recommendations for exploring the island, to a willingness to cater to guests’ needs and their ability to make guests feel like family, the owners consistently exhibit Greek hospitality.
The hotel itself offers appealing and sophisticated spaces, inside and out, in a primarily neutral palette. The bar and restaurant share a lovely space consisting of heavy feeling concrete floors and large pieces of furniture that are offset by lighter features like lucite chairs, flowers on the tables, and walls of tall glass which bring in the natural surroundings. Grassy paths, stone walls, and whitewashed villas give the property a charming, rustic look. There is a natural beauty here, but the secluded setting may leave some travelers feeling isolated.
Location
A quiet spot between the city of Naxos and the beach; little to do nearby
Naxian Collection is on the western side of the island of Naxos, one of the larger of the Greek Islands. The hotel is 10 minutes by car southwest of Naxos City, where there are many restaurants plus museums, historic sights, and shops. From the hotel, it is a six-minute drive to Agios Prokopios, a small town with a few restaurants and a nice beach. Another strip of sand can be found at the sister hotel Naxian on the Beach, where guests have free access to loungers. It is a 40-minute drive to the church of Agia Marina, a good starting point for a hike up Zas Mountain to the Cave of Zeus, for those up to the challenge. Naxos Island National Airport is a five-minute drive from the hotel, and the port at Naxos City is a 13-minute drive away.
Rooms
Lovely rooms with mostly white decor and either private or shared pools
The 12 chic, spacious rooms are done in white and beige with floors and furniture made from either light-wood or pressed concrete. The actual design varies by room, and some have four-poster beds, bamboo partitions, and still-life artwork. All rooms have furnished balconies or terraces, in addition to either private or shared pools. Several come with kitchens or kitchenettes, equipped with ovens, fridges, stovetops, and coffeemakers, but they lack microwaves, pots, pans, and sufficient dishware. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs with DVD players, free Wi-Fi, safes, bathrobes, and slippers. Sleek bathrooms have either gray concrete or white tiling, and either walk-in showers or separate showers and tubs. Hairdryers and free quality toiletries are provided. Some rooms include options like a fireplace, dining room, extra bedrooms and bathrooms, and jetted bathtub.
Features
An on-site restaurant with free breakfast and delicious meals, plus a bar and barbecue area
This tiny hotel doesn't offer a ton in the way of on-site features, but it's typically sufficient for guests. There's no central pool since all rooms have access to a shared or private pool, and guests will have to drive 12 minutes to the sister hotel, Naxian on the Beach, for free beachfront loungers. On-site, the hotel has a well-reviewed restaurant open for all three meals. The free breakfast buffet is excellent, and a la carte items are available for purchase as well. Guests find the food delicious and appreciate the local flavors included amongst international breakfast items. An a la carte lunch and dinner are also available. The on-site organic garden and free-range chicken farm provide some of the ingredients for meals. The owners sometimes host barbecues at the outdoor wood grill next to the bar, though the schedule varies. The owners also offer tours of their olive and walnut groves, and invite guests to pick their own fresh food. Wi-Fi is free and reliable throughout. There's no dedicated spa or spa, but staff can arrange in-room massages.
