Noticeable traffic noise from Route 29
Not a smoke-free property (a pro for some)
The 59-room Napa Winery Inn is located right off Route 29, the main road that runs through Napa Valley. With a friendly staff and reasonable rates, it can make a good base for exploring the larger Napa region. While rooms are unremarkable and a bit dated, and the inn itself is somewhat generic-looking, it's a comfortable spot and should suit couples and families. There's a small, well-maintained outdoor pool and hot tub that's regularly supplied with fresh towels. Unfortunately, the proximity to the highway means there's often traffic noise, especially in the pool area and in the rooms facing the road.
Scene
An intimate, unpretentious hotel in central Napa
The Napa Winery Inn is functional and friendly, and has a small pool, nightly wine tastings, and a breakfast buffet every morning that serves hot and cold items. Outdoor seating areas are spread throughout the hotel, but the front of the inn overlooks the parking lot and picks up noise from the nearby highway. But travelers with their own cars, and especially those interested in the Yappountville-Oakville-Calistoga end of the valley, would likely find the inn a good option. A wine and cheese hour in the lobby every night offers guests the opportunity to to mix and mingle outdoors on the patio amid the grape trees.
Location
A Central Napa Valley location just off Route 29 convenient to wineries and a short drive to the downtown area
Located right off of Route 29, the Napa Winery Inn sits along Napa Valley's main road, is a short drive to downtown Napa and to Target and various food stores. The hotel is within walking distance to many restaurants, and a short drive to wineries and vineyards. The inn shares a free, large parking lot with the adjacent restaurant, and the Fume Bistro around the corner is popular with guests. It's north of downtown Napa, Oxbow Market, and the Wine Train, and south of where the main trail of wineries begins.
Rooms
No-frills rooms are clean and big enough for families but decor looks dated
All 59 rooms are clean with comfortable beds but could use an update, especially the carpets and decorative panels. Dark wood and earthy hues of yellow create a mellow atmosphere, and there's ample lighting. Rooms have mini-refrigerators, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, wine glasses and a corkscrew. Bathrooms are functionally adequate but dated. Traffic noise from Route 29 can be heard in the rooms that face the highway. Guests looking for a quieter stay should request a room in the back away from the main road.
Features
Free Wi-Fi, fridges in rooms, small pool and hot tub
The Napa Winery Inn is a no-frills, low-key unpretentious property with a small outdoor pool and hot tub, and 24-hour coffee and tea in the reception area. The free breakfast buffet includes hot and cold entrees, along with pastries, bagels, English muffins, yogurt, fruit, and beverages. The inn also holds nightly wine and cheese tastings. It has a large car park, and there are bars and restaurants within walking distance.
