Located within the Historic Napa Mill, in the heart of downtown, the Napa River Inn is one of the most convenient properties for those who want to be within walking distance to great shopping, excellent dining and entertainment, and wine tasting rooms. There are a bunch of renowned restaurants, as well as a few shops, an acclaimed jazz club and a day spa within the complex. But room quality varies, depending mostly on the building the room is in, and not all have the same high-tech amenities-- while the rooms in the Hatt Building feel high-end and romantic, those in Embarcadero and Plaza buildings feel more mid-range (but are still cozy and have wonderful beds).

There’s little you can’t reach on foot from the Napa River Inn. The property, located within the Historic Napa Mill, a warehouse established in the heart of downtown Napa in 1884, is surrounded by world-class restaurants like Zuzu and Uva, stores, wine tasting rooms and entertainment venues, like the Napa Valley Opera House and the renowned Silos Jazz Club. The Napa River is right behind the Inn (some rooms have river views), and Highway 29, which connects all the towns in the Valley, is just a 5-minute drive from the hotel.Napa is one of the world's best wine-growing regions, with hundreds of wineries sprawling over rolling hills. The Valley, unlike its neighbor Sonoma Valley, can occasionally feel a little touristy (it's not uncommon to see a tour bus parked at a winery), and it also feels geared toward visitors with cash to spend -- so those with lighter wallets might feel a little out of place. The beauty of the valley is striking at any time of the year, but especially during the harvest season (September and October) and spring.
