Scene
A charming bed and breakfast in a rustic and historic setting
The inn, once a residential home, was built in 1929. The English Tudor-style building is at the end of a long driveway lined with tall trees and shrubs and a large lawn. The historic cottage building, separate from the main house, is white with a black pointed roof. The lobby has a cozy vibe, giving it a homey feel instead of seeming like a true hotel. There are a dining room table with brochures, bookcases, and couches to relax and read on. The property includes a lovely garden with benches and an outdoor pool. The overall atmosphere is relaxed and romantic.
Location
Located on a quiet street in the city of Napa, outside of downtown
This bed and breakfast is situated at the end of a mainly residential cul-de-sac of single family homes. The tree-lined quiet street is technically in the city of Napa, but about a 10-minute drive from downtown and the Napa Valley Wine Train. There is another bed and breakfast next door, and there is a strip mall with restaurants and shopping down the road. The Napa Municipal Golf Course is also about a 10-minute drive away. Other popular towns and surrounding wineries in Napa Valley are within a 40-minute drive: Yountville (12 minutes), St. Helena (25 minutes), Calistoga (40 minutes). Note that Napa Valley's main artery, Route 29, is a two-lane road that often gets bumper to bumper to traffic, so driving times can sometimes be considerably longer. The Silverado Trail, a scenic route lined with popular wineries, is 12 minutes away, and Downtown Sonoma is just over a 20-minute drive.
Rooms
Cozy rooms with classically ornate decor
All 10 of the rooms are decorated in a unique manner using deep hued textiles and dark wood furniture, some of which is antique. They’re ornate, yet warm and comfortable. Built-in bookcases, desks, reading nooks, and spa bathtubs are amenities that add to the homey feeling. Rooms on the second floor feature high, pitched ceilings. There are flat-screen TVs with DVD players and the hotel has a free movie library for guests to browse. There are also electric fireplaces and mini-fridges. Some rooms have a private balcony with beautiful views of the pool and garden. No more than two guests are allowed in a room, adding to the romantic ambience. There is a separate cottage with a kitchen that's available for an even more private visit with additional space.
Features
Outdoor pool and three-course breakfast
The inn features a backyard swimming pool with lounge chairs and tables. There’s a gazebo covered in gorgeous greenery and flowers. Next to the pool is a small garden as well. There’s also a separate cottage, which used to be the owner’s residence. It’s now rented out to guests as a stand-alone home. Guests are treated to a three-course breakfast daily in a European-style dining area. Free beverages and snacks are available, but no other meals are served on-site. There are free Wi-Fi and newspapers.
