Set on a Cabarnet Sauvignon vineyard, Napa
Valley Lodge has countryside ambiance galore while also being a mere 10-minute walk
from the town of Yountville. The 55 rooms here come with private balconies and
capsule-style coffeemakers, and some spaces have fabulous views of the
surrounding vineyards. There's no restaurant on-site, but the hotel can arrange
reservations at nearby spots on guests' behalf. A tiny gym and breakfast
room are on the property as well, as is a spa that offers an array of facials, body
treatments, and massages. ****
Scene
Classic boutique hotel in lush surroundings
A large fountain and a covered half-circle
driveway mark the entrance to the inn, which is somewhat disconnected from the
main lobby, a spacious and open area with high arched ceilings and an autumnal
color scheme. A den-like sitting room is adjacent to the common area, with
the requisite comfy couches and fireplace and Napa Valley-related literature. The
hotel appears to be geared toward wine-centric tourists, as are most
hotels in the area, and is popular with couples on Napa Valley getaways
but doesn't offer much for business travelers. The property is surrounded
by hills and vineyards and vine-covered trellises -- a luxurious, relaxed
atmosphere. ****
Location
On the outskirts of Yountville
The hotel, located on the outskirts of
Yountville, is a 10-minute walk from the downtown area. Across from the
property are several high-end restaurants and a gas station with a wine, snack,
and magazine store that opens up onto the street. A vineyard separates Napa
Valley Lodge from the main thoroughfare that leads to the small city of Calistoga,
and there's a quiet neighborhood on the opposite side of the hotel. The
location is convenient to the wineries that lie along Route 29, and it's also
right on Yountville Cross Road, which connects Yountville to the Silverado
Trail on the other side of the valley. Sonoma Valley Airport is about a
30-minute drive southeast. ****
Rooms
Classicaly furnished rooms, some with fireplaces, all with private balconies
The
rooms and suites at Napa Valley Lodge have simple, classic furniture in neutral
shades. Each unit has either two queen beds or one king, while a handful of
rooms have disability-access as well. All rooms come with private verandas, flat-screen TVs,
mini-fridges, Keurig brand capsule coffeemakers, iPod docks, slippers,
bathrobes, and high-end toiletries. Some spaces also have fireplaces. Most bathrooms
come with glass-encased walk-in showers, while the Bella Vista Suite has a
two-person jetted tub. ****
Features
Garden pool with loungers, well-equipped spa, and free champagne breakfast
The property has a lush garden with a bocce field, a fire pit, and
a decently-sized pool flanked by loungers with snack and drink service. A
tiny gym with three pieces of equipment also overlooks the inner courtyard, and
the breakfast room, where a free champagne breakfast is served daily, sits
adjacent. Bikes are available for guest use, also free of charge. An on-site spa
offers facials, body treatments, and massages, with an emphasis on using
organic materials and items from the vineyard. Parking is free as well, as is Wi-Fi.
