Complaints about cleanliness issues and some dated rooms
Paradise Resort doesn't offer the many amenities that most of the resorts along the beachfront of Myrtle Beach have, and yet, it still manages to provide a mid-range stay for families and couples. While families are drawn to the five water features, adults can take advantage of the decently-equipped fitness center. There is also a restaurant with breakfast year-round (for a fee) and lunch and dinner are available seasonally. The 178 rooms have balconies and free Wi-Fi. Efficiencies have microwaves and mini-fridges, while Condos and Suites can take advantage of kitchens. Keep in mind that there have been complaints about cleanliness issues and some dated rooms. Guests get free access to Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort’s water attractions. As an alternative, Sea Mist Oceanfront Resort is a larger resort with more water features and five restaurants on-site.
Scene
Contemporary beachfront resort that caters to families and couples
Built in 2006, Paradise Resort is a laid-back property with ocean views from some public areas. There’s not much to the lobby, a small space with brown tiled floors and a tiny seating area next to the concierge desk. It’s not meant to be a place of gathering or even relaxing, it's just a place for checking in or out. Families are the main clientele, with couples close behind, and everyone tends to migrate toward the indoor and outdoor pool decks where kids are often seen running around. Like most hotels in Myrtle Beach, Paradise Resort tends to cater to the summer crowd. The restaurant and bar have limited hours and are only open seasonally, limiting the available places where guests can socialize. The restaurant is quite contemporary with gray and turquoise seating to complement the turquoise walls. The rustic outdoor bar is rustic is furnished with brown outdoor furniture next to the pool.
Location
Located on the beach, within a 10-minute drive from most attractions
Paradise Resort sits among the many resorts along the South Myrtle Beach beachfront. There are plenty of dining options (like a Dairy Queen, steakhouse, and beach cafes) within a five- to 10-minute walk away. It takes 26 minutes on foot to reach the Family Kingdom Amusement Park. It's an eight-minute drive to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade and six minutes by car to the Whispering Pines Golf Course. For shopping, the Market Common is a seven-minute drive from the property, compared to the 12-minute drive to Broadway at the Beach. Even though the hotel doesn’t have an airport shuttle, it only takes seven minutes by car to reach the Myrtle Beach International Airport.
Rooms
Pleasant rooms equipped with kitchens or mini-fridges and microwaves
While all rooms at Paradise Resort are spacious with ocean views (though not always full ocean views), they vary in their layouts between Efficiencies, Suites, and Condos. The design is generally the same throughout with blue and green floral carpet that complements the soft green statement walls. The blond wooden furniture and sofas are simple in nature, but when combined with artwork on the walls, it creates a pleasant atmosphere. Some units are far better than others in terms of datedness, according to guests. Efficiencies are better described as Standard Rooms with mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs. Suites and Condos differ in that they have kitchens with microwaves, sinks, refrigerators, stoves, and ovens. All units have balconies, while One- to Four-bedroom Condos include washers and dryers. Bathrooms are moderately-sized with hairdryers, shower/tub combos, and toiletries. Take note that there have been inconsistent reports about the quality of housecleaning, which may be the culprit behind cleanliness complaints.
Features
A mix of adult and kid amenities like pools, a hot breakfast, and small gym
Paradise Resort has a limited number of amenities compared to the resorts surrounding it, but it still manages to cover most of the basics. Directly located on the beach, guests split their time between the ocean and the five water amenities that include indoor and outdoor pools, lazy rivers, and hot tubs. During the summer, there’s poolside entertainment and a kids’ club. Guests also have access to the 22 water features at the Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort, a nearby sister property. There isn’t a full-service year-round restaurant. Rather, Sandals Cafe offers year-round breakfast and both a buffet and made-to-order meal for a fee. Lunch and dinner are available during peak season. The Tiki Hut serves snacks and drinks by the pool during peak season. The small fitness center has cardio and weight machines, so guests can keep fit. Free features include DVD rentals, a giant chess board, outdoor parking, and Wi-Fi throughout.
