North Beach Plantation is one of the few upscale properties in Myrtle Beach -- and it's arguably the best of the bunch. Configured as condos and townhouses, accommodations are impeccably neat and clean. Sizes range from one-bedroom condos to five-bedroom cottages, making this a convenient pick for groups of any size. A high-end spa, a famous Myrtle Beach restaurant, a beachfront location and multiple options for pools means there is plenty to do on the property. Just note that it's a 25-minute drive to the boardwalk; those who prefer a more central location may want to consider the Anderson Ocean Club & Spa.
Scene
Relaxing plantation-style property offers a reprieve from bustling Myrtle Beach.
North Beach Plantation's quiet North Myrtle Beach location, right on the beach and removed from the main road, gives guests a sense of being separated from the hustle and bustle. The high-end spa offers an additional opportunity for relaxation, as do the whirlpool baths in the condos. Accommodations -- either condos or townhouses -- go as large as five bedrooms, meaning even big groups can find privacy. Still, there are plenty of opportunities to socialize if the mood suits, such as the swim-up bar at one of the pools.
Location
An oceanfront location in North Myrtle Beach, a four-minute drive from Barefoot Landing
North Beach Plantation's oceanfront location guarantees the beach experience most who come to this slice of South Carolina crave. And the complex is set back from the main road, giving it an air of privacy not easily found at other resorts. Add in the fact that it's got all the amenities a guest will likely need during a visit, and many find there's little reason to leave the resort. Which might be a good thing, given the fact that attractions and non-hotel restaurants, for the most part, require at least a short car ride. It's a four-minute drive to the restaurants and shops at Barefoot landing, and a 25-minute drive to the action on the boardwalk.
Rooms
Modern, upscale cottages and townhouses with one to five bedrooms
There are two options for accommodations at North Beach Plantation: The North Beach Towers and the Cottages at North Beach. The Towers offer the conveniences of a hotel, such as daily maid service, while the adjacent cottages offer the privacy of a home and a residential neighborhood feel. With one-, two- and three-bedroom condos, plus the cottages with as many as five bedrooms, even the Brady bunch would find a suitable room style here. The contemporary accommodations all feature flat-screen TVs, modern bathrooms, washer/dryers, dining areas, and modern kitchens equipped with ovens, stovetops, and full-size refrigerators. Though decor varies, each unit is attractive and stylish, with fresh, well-kept bed linens.
Features
Several pool options, a high-end spa, and a renowned steakhouse
Although the condos and cottages offer plenty on their own -- room to stretch out, convenient kitchens, washer/dryers, and balconies to enjoy the salt air -- the resort itself is also packed to the gills with features. There's the high-end spa for those seeking solitude or the swim-up bar at the Caribbean-themed pool complex for those seeking camaraderie. There's plenty for the kids too, including a lazy river and an indoor swimming when the weather isn't all sunny skies. The steakhouse, 21 Main Prime, gets high marks from guests for its quality steaks, seafood, and sushi.
