Bottom Line

The three-pearl Sunrise Hotel and Suites is a family-owned boutique hotel on the southern side of Mykonos. The kidney-shaped outdoor pool is adjacent to the calm and sandy Agrari Beach, and the hotel has lovely views overlooking the Aegean Sea. For dining, Fishalida Restaurant serves free breakfast and a selection of locally sourced specials for lunch and dinner on a lovely terrace. Cocktails and wines are on offer in the lobby bar. The 36 rooms are finished in a mostly white and chic decor, though a few of them haven't been updated. The Executive Suite features a private plunge pool. Rates are highly competitive for this part of Mykonos. Yiannaki Hotel is on the western side of the island, between two beaches, and it has a larger pool for around the same price.

Scene

Simple traditional Greek architecture on the beach

Sunrise Hotel and Suites is a family-owned and family-friendly boutique hotel on a stretch of beach that's usually dominated by luxury spots. Like most of the island's hotels, Sunrise has traditional whitewashed Cycladic architecture with lots of right angles and stone accents. Palms and olive trees provide landscaping, and there are gorgeous views of Agrari Beach from the outdoor pool and outdoor dining area. Inside, the spacious lobby has simple tile floors and a few pieces of dated furniture, like a patterned living room set and model ships. Guests are mostly vacationers, and the hotel is particularly popular with families who want access to the calm waters of Agrari Beach. Note that the hotel closes in the high season.

Location

On the calm and swimmable Agrari Beach in southern Mykonos

Sunrise Hotel and Suites has a remarkably good location for beach lovers, since it's directly on Agrari Beach. This particular beach is one of the calmest and quietest in Mykonos. For travelers who want to turn up a bit on the beach, it's a 10-minute walk down a lovely seaside path to Elia Beach, the island's longest sandy beach. It's lined with bars, beach clubs, restaurants, and revelers. Other tourist attractions include Cavo Paradiso (a 23-minute drive), Mykonos Windmills and Archeological Museum (a 22-minute drive), Little Venice (a 22-minute drive), and ASTRA nightclub (a 22-minute drive). Mykonos International Airport is a 13-minute drive. It's a 25-minute drive to Mykonos Port.

Rooms

Tasteful and pleasant rooms with some lovely views from furnished outdoor spaces

There are a variety of rooms and suites at Sunrise Hotel and Suites, and they vary by view and decor. The Junior Suite features a chic all-white color palette with contemporary accents like colorful throw pillows and a wooden ladder that holds towels. A frosted glass half-wall behind the bed peers into the shower. The best part about the room is the furnished balcony overlooking the pool and Aegean Sea. Standard Rooms are more dated, with older tile floors and fussy bedspreads. The Executive Suites upgrade to a lovely private plunge pool with beach views. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, safes, refrigerated minibars, free Wi-Fi, hairdryers, and toiletries. Power showers are a nice touch.
