San Giorgio

Part of the Design Hotels group, this property is run by the same owners as the nearby Scorpios Beach Club, which is known for its Sunday sessions and sunsets. Although some party-goers stay at the hotel, it has a relaxed, away-from-it-all atmosphere that's popular with couples. Renovated in 2013, this beautifully designed modern hotel blends traditional Cycladic architecture with bohemian decor. It's all detailed with cozy hand-crafted furnishings, such as printed cushions and suspended bamboo seats hanging from ropes in the light, airy lobby. Guests tend to congregate at the large outdoor pool, lounging on the day beds, bean bags, and hammocks that sit between tropical palm trees. Chilled poolside music gives a low-key vibe, and the gorgeous views of the Aegean Sea create a stunning backdrop. As part of the hotel's philosophy, interaction and socializing are encouraged, though there are plenty of cozy spots to slip off to and enjoy some alone time, such as the private beach and lush green gardens. 

This chic, modern hotel is situated on a quiet road between two of the island's best beaches. Paraga Beach is just a five-minute walk from the hotel, while Paradise Beach is a 10- to 15-minute walk. Paraga Beach is home to lively beach clubs, such as Scorpios, making San Giorgio an ideal location for travelers who want to be near the action, but not right on top of it. A bit of party noise does reach the hotel on occasion, though it's a rare complaint, and there aren't many amenities in the immediate area. However, Mykonos Town is around a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and there's a bus stop right outside. Some of the town's popular attractions include Little Venice, Paraportiani Church, and the Windmills of Mykonos. The International Airport and Old Port are around a 10-minute drive from the hotel, depending on traffic. 

Like the rest of the hotel, all 32 rooms at San Giorgio have been beautifully decorated in a chic, bohemian style. White walls and curtains that seem to float on air create a bright and breezy feel, while raw wood furniture and hand-selected rustic details add coziness. Wicker peacock chairs and hand-crafted pillows provide stylish seating, and cave-like archways make rooms feel like a boho treasure-trove. Each room has a balcony or terrace with a seating area, offering garden, land, or sea views. Modern amenities include free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, safes, phones, irons, and minibars. TVs aren't included in any of the rooms or suites, though most guests don't seem to mind the unplugged results. Bathrooms are spacious and modern, with neutral painted walls and cool, stone floors. All essential amenities are included, such as big mirrors, small white sinks, hairdryers, rainfall showers, white towels, woven laundry baskets, and free natural toiletries. 

As a small boutique property, the hotel doesn't have the space for certain upscale offerings like a spa, but what's on offer is excellent. The San Giorgio Hotel surrounds a large outdoor pool, lined with reclining sun loungers, bean bags, padded day beds, and lazy hammocks hanging between palm trees. There are plenty of shaded seating areas for taking in the sea views, and the poolside bar serves a variety of tasty signature cocktails. The restaurant, Cantina, serves a seasonal Mediterranean menu with hearty Italian dishes made with fresh-from-the-market ingredients. A free American breakfast buffet is served here daily, and includes a generous spread of hot and cold options. The hotel has a private "beach" area, though this is rocky and lacks sandy areas or sun loungers -- however, there is a jetty that's ideal for tanning. This property also has beautiful gardens and a lovely private wedding chapel. Other services include 24-hour room service, concierge, in-room massages, vehicle rentals, and laundry. Guests can also book yoga classes, water activities, horse riding, and boat trips. Wi-Fi, parking, and transfers from the port and airport are free.
