Myconian Ambassador Relais & Chateaux Hotel
Platys Gialos, Mykonos
Myconian Ambassador Hotel & Thalasso Spa Center is a luxury hotel (it's part of the Relais & Chateaux chain) with 70 rooms overlooking Platis Gialos. Guests seem to love the hotel's little extras, such as juice at check-in and ice pops by the pool. Guest rooms are chic, white, and airy, and offer ocean views. The hotel has an infinity-edge outdoor pool, and a restaurant serving Mediterranean, Greek, and Mykonos dishes. The indoor spa offers guests a free, daily thalassotherapy session, and the hotel has a fitness center with several weight and cardio machines. Free shuttle service to the airport is available.
Porto Mykonos Hotel
Mykonos Town, Mykonos
The gorgeous views of the sea are the star at the upper-middle-range Porto Mykonos Hotel. They can be enjoyed just about everywhere on the property -- from the lobby; from the chic, seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub; from the restaurant (where a free breakfast buffet is served); and from almost all of the 59 simple, beachy guestrooms. The hotel has an outdoor pool with a pool bar and free breakfast buffet with a variety of foods. The hotel also owns a restaurant on the beach serving Greek cuisine. Mykonos Town is a 10-minute drive away, and a free airport shuttle is available. The hotel arguably offers the best bang for your buck in Platis Gialos, but guests wanting to stay closer to town may want to consider the similarly priced Aeolos Mykonos Hotel.
Hotel Tagoo
Mykonos Town, Mykonos
Run by a Canadian expat, the Hotel Tagoo (not to be confused with Hotel Cavo Tagoo) is located within walking distance to the center of town, but far enough away to give guests spectacular views and a quiet atmosphere. It's one of the older hotels in the area, with spacious and homey rooms, panoramic hilltop views, and traditional Cycladic decor; it attracts many repeat guests. A free breakfast buffet is served daily and there's an ocean-view rooftop pool. It's a great value option for couples and friends, but it does lack an on-site restaurant.
