Hotel Petinos

Petinos Hotel's mint-blue wooden shutters and whitewashed walls create a traditionally Cycladic first impression. From the outside, it would be hard to tell that this two-story property is home to 70 large rooms, which are quietly tucked away between beautiful tropical gardens, winding water features, and a flower-filled central courtyard. Situated on the corner of a road that leads to sandy Platys Gialos Beach, the surrounding area is lively, with plenty of bars, shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. The hotel has a laid-back atmosphere, though it can sometimes be noisy in areas near the road, and it's popular with groups, couples, and families. Decor is traditional and homey, but with modern elements, though some of the rooms are starting to show their age. The large, bright lobby has white painted walls and white-tiled floors, and cozy seating areas where guests tend to congregate. Guests also gather in the spacious Greek restaurant downstairs, which has a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the beach. 

Situated on the corner of a road, just up from Platys Gialos Beach, the Petinos Hotel is an ideal location for beach lovers wanting to explore the island. There's a small pier near the hotel for water taxi boats to some of the south coast's best beaches, such as Paradise Beach, Agrari Beach, and Ella Beach. There are a few nice beaches within walking distance too, such as Psarou Beach, which is a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and Paraga Beach, which is a 15-minute walk. The surrounding area has supermarkets, shops, bars, and restaurants. The center of Mykonos Town is around a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and there is a bus stop right outside. Mykonos Town has a lively nightlife scene, plus historic attractions like the Windmills of Mykonos and Paraportiani Church. The airport and Old Port are around a 10- to 15-minute drive, depending on traffic.

Minimal, white painted rooms have bright, colorful details, though there's a big difference in style between them. All 70 rooms are spacious and bright, with white bedding and tiled floors creating an airy feel, though Standard Rooms look quite dated. It's better to opt for the Superior Rooms, which have details like wood-beam ceilings alongside modern furniture plus bamboo headboards. Each room has a balcony or terrace with a small seating area, offering garden or street views, though some guests have reported road noise from street-side rooms. Modern amenities include free Wi-Fi, 25-inch flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, phones, safes, radios, mini-fridges, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. Honeymoon Suites are also available, as are bigger rooms with kitchenettes and separate living areas. Bathrooms are tiny and tired-looking, and amenities vary. Some have showers, while others have bath tubs, but all bathrooms include small sinks and free basic toiletries.

Petinos Hotel's Greek restaurant is a real highlight of this property. Overlooking Platys Gialos Beach, it has a lovely outdoor terrace and serves traditional Mediterranean cuisine. It also hosts regular Greek nights during the week with dancing and singing, and a free American breakfast buffet is served daily, with generous hot and cold options including crepes, eggs, tea, and coffee. Other facilities in the hotel are lacking, and there's no on-site pool or fitness center. However, guests can use these facilities for free at the sister hotel, Petinos Beach Hotel, across the road. Guests can access the spa at nearby Nissaki Boutique Hotel. Other services include a 24-hour front desk, computer station, babysitting, laundry, ironing, free Wi-Fi, and free transfers to the airport and Old Port.
