Milena Hotel

This family-run hotel resembles Mykonos Town in miniature with its classic Cycladic architecture, and stone walkways like narrow alleys between whitewashed buildings. Bright open-air spaces flow from one archway to another, with shaded nooks and covered terraces to sit on. The tiny lobby resides in a corner of the cafe, with a reception window on the back side of the bar. Colorful paintings of coastal scenery decorate the breakfast cafe, along with a hand-written menu board, and small glass terrariums atop each table. The small church on the grounds, the church of Agios Georgios (Saint George), opens up to the public only once a year on the celebration of its name day. Most guests are friends, solo travelers, or couples who can be seen relaxing in the cafe in the morning. 

The hotel is situated on one of the island's three main roads, connecting Mykonos Town with the airport, and the thoroughfare can be quite busy during high season. There are a small market and a bakery within walking distance, but it's too far to walk to any attractions. It's a six-minute drive into Mykonos Town for the island's vibrant nightlife and high-end shopping, along with attractions like the Aegean Maritime Museum and the Archaeological Museum of Mykonos. Popular oceanfront destinations like Platys Gialos and Psarou beaches are both under a 10-minute drive to the south. Mykonos Island National Airport is just a two-minute drive to the east. A bus stops just out front of the hotel every half hour for access to town and beaches.  

A variation on the common white palette, Milena Hotel's 18 rooms are accented with bright colors -- pink or orange fabrics are paired with matching artwork set against the bright white walls and ceilings. Twin or double beds, along with some triple room options, come with simple white furnishings and relatively cramped quarters, though there's decent closet space. Free Wi-Fi comes standard, along with wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and stocked minibars. The tiled bathrooms have tiny corner showers with pull curtains. Toiletries and hairdryers -- along with cute vanities with cushioned stools, where guests can get ready for a night out -- are provided. 

Guests checking in receive a welcome drink at the small cafe bar, which also serves drinks and snacks all day. Breakfast (not included) consists of fruit juice, toast, and ham, along with coffee and espresso drinks. Outside, there's a rooftop terrace with covered seating and panoramic views of the island. The hotel also has free parking and free transportation to and from the nearby airport.
