Bottom Line

This two-pearl Comfort Inn & Suite is in the middle of the Poconos and drives to most area attractions, like the Camelback ski area, are relatively easy. In spite of their simplicity, the 65 rooms are spacious and comfortable, and some are equipped with bunk beds for kids and others with private indoor hot tubs. We did spot some wear and tear, as well as dated furniture and old tube TVs in some rooms. Features include an indoor pool, fitness room, and game room, and the hot breakfast buffet is free. For slightly nicer rooms and features like a playground, travelers may want to consider the less-expensive Baymont Inn & Suites, which is about 20 minutes away and closer to Stroudsburg.

Scene

Chain hotel with pleasant atmosphere

Housed in a standard cream colored building with a porte-cochere entrance, the first impression made at this Comfort Inn is pleasant and homey. The lobby is large and features a bright and airy lounge with high ceilings and an impressive stone fireplace. There are leather chairs and a mezzanine where guests can sit, as well as a few sets of tables and chairs. While the lobby is cozy, the look isn't the most contemporary, and this slightly dated quality runs throughout most of this hotel's interiors. In the end, there are few surprises here, and the clientele here is mostly couples and families, though small business groups also pass through.

Location

On Mt. Pocono's main drag, a 20-minute drive to Camelback skiing

This Comfort Inn sits along Route 940, a fairly busy road lined with a mix of automotive stores, fast food and local restaurants, and other retailers. There is a Lowes hardware store next door and a grocery store across the street. Those traveling by car will find it easy to get in and out of Mt. Pocono -- I-380 is a five-minute drive down the road -- and both Mt. Airy Casino and Kalahari indoor water park are reachable by car in less than 10 minutes. Pocono Raceway is about a 15-minute drive away and it’s 20 minutes by car to Camelback, a popular ski area. Scranton is a half-hour drive from the hotel, while Bushkill Falls takes 45 minutes to reach. The Wilkes Barre-Scranton Airport is a 40-minute drive from the hotel, while Newark Liberty International Airport can be reached in about 90 minutes.

Rooms

Simple and spacious rooms, some with bunk beds and hot tubs

There are several room configurations to choose from at this hotel, all featuring simple decor in a tan and red color scheme. Mid-tone wooden-veneer furniture with clean lines sits underneath soft-colored prints in brass frames, while tan bedspreads are topped with crimson bed runners. Rooms are carpeted in dark emerald rugs with subtle patterns, but some of the furniture -- like the seating area in the Standard Double Room that we visited -- looks dated. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, safes, ironing facilities, and coffee machines, plus many also have mini-fridges and microwaves. Each room has a TV, some of which are modern flat-screen units while others are old tube-style televisions. Suites can sleep up to six people, though they lack separate living rooms and bedrooms; some suites are equipped with a pair of bunk beds in a cubby-style room. Bathrooms are spacious and include plenty of counter space and a shower/tub combo, while some suites offer whirlpool tubs. There have been some complaints about cleanliness and maintenance issues, however, and some of the furnishings are worn and in need of an update.

Features

Free hot buffet breakfast, indoor pool, fitness room, and free Wi-Fi

This Comfort Inn and Suites offers a free buffet breakfast including hot items like eggs, bacon, and waffles. The property doesn’t have a bar or restaurant on-site, but offers a couple of vending machines selling snacks and drinks. There is a spacious indoor pool with large windows overlooking the grassy landscaping, as well as a fitness room equipped with a small selection of machines. Other conveniences include a coin-operated laundry area, a computer room, and a large meeting room, plus there's a game room with video games. Wi-Fi is free throughout, as is parking in the hotel's outdoor lot.
