Bottom Line
The Royal Atlas is a four-pearl hotel on a scenic public beach, 20 minutes on foot from the center of Agadir. With a business center and meeting rooms for corporate travelers, plus several pools, a spa, live entertainment shows, and sunbeds for vacationing visitors, the property is suitable for all kinds of guests. The 338 modern rooms are clean and come with balconies. However, sea views aren’t always as advertised, and rooms lack coffee- and tea-making facilities. While there’s a full range of amenities here, the quality is hit-or-miss, and many come with strict time limits and extra fees, even with all-inclusive bookings. The Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea & Spa has better all-inclusive value, but smaller rooms.

Contemporary design and relaxed atmosphere suits all types of travelers
Built in 2007, the Royal Atlas is a modern beachfront hotel with high ceilings, raindrop chandeliers, and white brick pillars against cream floor tiles. Abstract paintings and statues in the lobby add to the contemporary vibe, and the overall sleek furnishings make it a popular spot for corporate guests. At the same time, lots of seating options throughout several lounging areas both inside and on the outdoor palm tree-studded grounds near the large pool, create a chilled-out atmosphere for families and leisure travelers. With welcome drinks on arrival and a busy yet relaxed air about the space, the hotel is classy without being stuffy.
Location
Beachfront location walkable to city center; 10- to 15-minute drive to most attractions
The hotel is located on its own section of a public beach, with a promenade that’s perfect for long walks and peppered with restaurants and bars. It’s a 20-minute walk to the nightlife, shopping, dining, and Grand Mosque at the center of Agadir. Several tourist attractions, like the Souk El Had d’Agardir market and the Agadir Memorial Museum, are 10- to 15-minute drives' away, though travelers who don’t mind walking can reach them within 30 minutes. The walls of Kasbah are an eight-minute drive away. The Vallee des Oiseaux park is a three-minute walk away. Hotel shuttles go to and from Agadir-Al Massira Airport, a 30-minute drive away, for extra fees.
Rooms
Balconies and minibars, but slow free Wi-Fi
Standard Rooms are spacious and clean, with double, two twin, or single beds. Cream marble tile floors and white walls are complemented by accent pillows, drapes and bed runners, which come in bold purples and oranges. Funky headboards, colorful wall prints, and curtained-off seating areas add character to the spaces. While clear sliding doors and large mirrors above the desks let in some light and make the rooms feel bigger, the thick drapes and rich colors can make the spaces feel slightly dark (which isn important preventative against Morocco's sun.) All rooms have small balconies with seating, but some guests have noted that they’re allotted pool or city view rooms despite paying for sea views.
All rooms have air-conditioning, desks, safes, and LCD TVs. Free Wi-Fi often runs slowly. Closets are narrow, and Standard Rooms have limited to no dresser space. Minibars are provided, but coffee-and-tea-making facilities aren’t. Family and Executive Rooms offer more space, while Suites come with dining tables, separate lounges, and room service. Cribs and rollaway beds can be requested, but irons aren’t provided; guests must pay for laundry services.
Bathrooms are decently sized, with large mirrors and small separate toilets areas. All come with shower/tub combos with handheld showerheads. Royal Atlas toiletries and hairdryers are provided.
Features
Beach and kid-friendly activities; hit-or-miss food, and fees for several amenities
Features provide convenience and comfort for a variety of guest types. Andiamo and Al Yacout offer Italian and Moroccan cuisine in large dining rooms with flowing curtain dividers. Al Yacout also has occasional live music. L’Oceane, the breakfast room, has poolside seating, plus a vast morning buffet (not necessarily included in rates). Le Lounge offers drinks at mix-and-match seating. The lobby’s Stone Bar is both sleek and cozy, with low tables and earth-toned sofas. The casual Pool Bar serves sandwiches and drinks. However, there are fees for eating or drinking in certain areas of the hotel, and food everywhere gets mixed reviews. All-inclusive packages can be booked.
Three large pools (one heated) form a lovely area to kick back outside. There’s also an indoor pool and whirlpool as part of the spa/steam room, along with a well-equipped gym, but there are strict time limits and hefty fees to use them before and after certain hours. The spa also includes a Turkish bath, massage services, and several types of treatments. However, showers aren't the cleanest, and all the indoor wellness facilities feel dark
The private stretch of sand on the public beach has fewer rules, with plenty of sunbeds with umbrellas on the sand to enjoy spectacular ocean breezes and views.
Other recreational amenities include a tennis court and a nightclub with neon lights and pumping music (which might disturb guests in nearby rooms), and live, family-friendly shows. Indoor and outdoor play areas and babysitting services are additional kid-friendly features. A beauty salon offers haircuts and grooming services while gift shops sell souvenirs and snacks.
Meeting rooms and grand halls can be booked for events, along with a business center and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. Valet parking in the limited lot is available.
