Bottom Line

Part of a regional chain, Kenzi Club Agdal Medina is an upscale Moroccan sanctuary flanked by 24 acres of olive trees, with the resort offering multiple
restaurants and bars, four outdoor pools, a spa, sports center, and kids’
club. There are 314 large, contemporary guest rooms here with flat-screen
TVs, mini-fridges, and patios or terraces. Several dedicated meeting rooms make
the property a viable option for business travelers as well. But the multiple
fees for the in-room safes, indoor pool, and spa leave some guests
dissatisfied.

Scene

A desert oasis with olive trees, gardens, and stylish outdoor pools

Kenzi Club Agdal Medina borders the Agdal
Gardens, with 24 acres of olive trees and views of the Atlas Mountains creating
a serene atmosphere. The property includes manicured lawns and gardens, quirky
welded sculptures, terracotta lanterns, cushioned sofa chairs, and hammocks.
The luxury hotel’s leisure facilities and services appeal mostly to families
but also to couples.Gold Moorish designs,
large windows covered with red drapes, and domed ceiling designs make the lobby
feel luxurious and bright. Guests are each greeted with a free mojito upon arrival. Two stylish
outdoor pools are surrounded by canopy beds, hammocks, and showers. Black lounge
chairs and gray umbrellas rest on the tile deck. The water park pool offers
three large slides while the kiddy pool  -- with canopy beds -- has a
snake slide.

Location

Near an array of cultural attractions and landmarks, as well as the airport

The Agdal Medina is in Douar Lahna, a
village in Marrakech. The hotel offers a shuttle to the historically important Medina
of Marrakech that leaves every 30 minutes. Other cultural attractions easily
accessible by car include the Theatre Royal, Bahia and Badii palaces, and Museum de Marrakech. For those interested in contemporary entertainment, the hotel is also a short drive from the Cinema Megarama, with the 555 Night
Club and Club Maj in the same general vicinity. The nearby Camel
Trekking Morocco Desert Tours offers camel rides to visitors, and it’s less
than a 15-minute drive northwest to Marrakech Menara Airport.

Rooms

Modern, basic rooms with memorable decor and contemporary amenities

Guests at the Agdal Medina have their pick of Deluxe, Family, and Quadruple Rooms, as well as Junior Suites.
Decorations are modern and basic. Moroccan doorways, Moorish wood details, and dark
tile floors enrich spaces with additional features that include air-conditioning,
flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, bathrobes and slippers (in most rooms), and
safes (for a fee). Suites and Family and Quadruple rooms have separate living
rooms and bedrooms. Balconies or terraces have patio furniture
and offer landscape views. Bathrooms are modern with
separate showers, bidets, and toilet rooms. Flowers and towels folded intoswans are a welcome, thoughtful touch. Guests complain, however, that the free Wi-Fi is
unreliable.

Features

A kids' club and farm, meeting rooms, spa, and sports center

Two restaurants -- theAtlas and the Orangery -- offer buffet dining and authentic Moroccan cuisine.
The Atlas also has a poolside stage for entertainment. The Oasis Bar is located
poolside as well while the Gnawa Bar has a contemporary indoor setting. For families,
a kids’ club is free to children ages 4 to 12 while a baby and teen club (for a
fee) are also offered. The kids’ club farm is stocked with animals, a vegetable
garden, playground, and kiddy pool, among other features. For business travelers, five modern meeting rooms are available -- including a boardroom
and stage -- that can fit between 30 to 600 people. For those seeking to unwind,
the Asian-themed spa features a Turkish bath, eight treatment rooms, three
hammams, a steam room, and a Vichy shower. An indoor pool area has fanciful ceiling
mobiles, skylights, and lounge chairs. A beauty salon and a modern gym are also provided, along with an array of sports activities.
