Scene
Futuristic-retro styling in a hotel popular with leisure and business travelers
From the outside, the Hotel Mioni Royal San has a 1960s futuristic look, like something out of "The Jetsons." This decor concept is hinted at again in the the lobby, which has silver disk-shaped light fixtures that look a bit like UFOs. A bright-red mosaic penguin the size of an adult human greets guests, and there's a seating area with red, cream, and black chairs organized around cube-shaped tables with large floral displays. The Mioni caters to business travelers and tourists alike, and its kids' pool and children's play area means that it is a good choice for families with kids.
Location
A short walk from the Terme Euganee Railway Station in a neighborhood with lots of commerce
The hotel is a two-minute walk from the Terme Euganee Railway Station in a neighborhood surrounded by shops and restaurants. Although Abano Terme is a destination unto itself, thanks largely to its thermal waters, it also makes a good base for reaching nearby towns and cities such as Verona, Bologna, and Treviso -- all of which are about an hour away -- and Venice, a half-hour train ride from town. Marco Polo International Airport near Venice is a 50-minute drive from the hotel.
Rooms
Rooms and suites with simple decor and modern bathrooms with rainfall showerheads
There are three types of lodging at the Mioni: Single or Double Rooms, Junior Suites, and Suites. Decor is simple and organized around a single color theme that's used to accent cream-colored decor and light-wood furniture through the use of throws, rugs, cushions, and painted accent walls. All rooms have air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs, digital safes, minibars, and hairdryers. Bathrooms have bidets and spacious walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads; Junior Suites and Suites also have separate tubs, and Suites have whirlpool hot tubs.
