Hotel looks dated
The 175-room Conteninental Terme Hotel's extensive spa facilities, which include numerous indoor and outdoor thermal pools and a range of treatments, are the big draw here. The rooms, suites, and apartments at this upper-middle-range property are modern and simple but not spartan, and half- and full-board options are available. Beyond the extensive spa facilities, there are also a clay tennis court, a large, fully equipped fitness center, an indoor soccer field, and a mini-club for kids. The Continental closes in December, but is open the 11 other months of the year.
Scene
Semi-upscale property that's popular with those looking for relaxation, but with services for families and business travelers
The Continental Terme Hotel has facilities for meetings and a kids' club for families with young children, but its main clientele are those seeking a therapeutic spa vacation, usually one involving lots of soaking in the town's mineral-rich hot spring waters. From the outside, the Continental looks a bit like a mid-range -- but arguably dated -- chain hotel (which it is), and this look continues in the lobby, which has lots of grayish-white marble floors, shiny wooden pillars, and off-white seating areas.
Location
Park location within a short walking distance of bars, restaurants, and shops
The hotel is surrounded by a large park, and is a short walk from the pedestrian streets of the city center, where there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops. The Terme Euganee-Abano Railway Station is a five-minute walk away, from which there's regular service to Venice, Padua, Treviso, and Verona. The Venice Marco Polo International Airport is a 45-minute drive away.
Rooms
Rooms and suites with stark decor; some have modern updates
Rooms and suites are available at the Continental Terme Hotel, and decor varies. Classic Suites and Comfort Rooms have plain interiors dominated by white beds, walls, linens, and sparse artwork. Modern Suites have pincushion headboards, sleek cube shaped lamps, and off-white and dark-brown furnishings with contrasting slate-colored accent pillows and throws. Suites have balconies, living rooms, and separate bedrooms. All room types come with flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, safes, mini-fridges,and air-conditioning. Classic and Modern Suites have shower/tub combos, while Comfort Rooms have walk-in showers. Toiletries come with all room and suite types. Full- and half-board packages are available, and free breakfast comes standard with non-board rates.
Features
Variety of indoor and outdoor thermal pools, extensive spa, sports areas, and on-site dining with organic and gluten-free options
The Continental Terme's main draw is its numerous indoor and outdoor thermal pools and its variety of therapeutic treatments. The Olympia thermal pool is outdoors and is designed for swimming laps, with six wide lanes for sporty swimmers. At one end of this pool, the round, shallow Venere thermal pool is more suited to relaxing and soaking. Indoor pools include the Nettuno, with spa jets, and the Atena, which is suitable for swimming. There are also a small fitness center with big windows that look onto a garden, a clay tennis court, an indoor soccer pitch, and lawn bowling. The spa features a salt room, a traditional sauna, and a variety of treatments. There are meeting rooms for business travelers, and a small kids' club for children. The on-site restaurant, Le Magnolie, offers personalized menus with organic and gluten-free options and local wines. A buffet breakfast is served daily in a separate breakfast room and is included in the room rate, regardless of whether guests opt for half- or full-board packages.
