Bottom Line

The 54-room Hotel Vert is a value property across the
street from Le Couesnon River and within a five-minute drive of Mont Saint-Michel.
Restaurants and shops are also within walking distance. All guest rooms are
basic with dated decor, and while some units are large with prominent seating areas,
others are small. Wear and tear marks can be seen on
furnishings, but bathrooms are clean and organized. Free Wi-Fi is available
throughout the property, though signal strength varies. It may be worthwhile to
consider other similarly priced hotels in the area, as some have more modern
rooms with amenities.

Scene

A no-frills budget property

Although the lobby is large and offers a
few modern furnishings and bright floor-to-ceiling windows, the common areas at
Hotel Vert are dated with a lackluster color palette and only includes the bare minimum. Additionally, the breakfast room’s low ceiling and washed out orange
and gray scheme are less than appetizing. A map of attractions and useful
tourist brochures decorate the lobby’s large wooden shelving unit, but there’s
no air-conditioning on the property, with only small windows in rooms. There
are no elevators, and some guests must hike up three flights of stairs. There
are free newspapers available as well as free Wi-Fi, but the latter's connection can be
poor. A small garden/terrace space in front of the property contains a
fountain and plants, but overall the Vert steers toward value, covering essentials only.

Location

Near Mont Saint-Michel, within walking distance of shops and restaurants

Across the street from Le Couesnon River,
the Vert is next to the free shuttle stop for the island of Mont Saint-Michel
and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. A five-minute drive north will
get you to Mont Saint-Michel while reaching Alligator Bay to the south takes about the same amount of time. Sights like Dol Cathedral, St. Gervais Basilica, and Mont-Dol are a 25-minute drive away. A
rental car is necessary to travel anywhere outside of the main attraction
island.

Rooms

Basic and dated with few extras

Guest rooms
at Hotel Vert have old bedspreads with unimpressive red and gold color schemes
and small, single windows. All units have flat-screen TVs, desks, and tiny
toiletries as well as reading lamps in headboards. Some spaces are large and include seating areas while others can be quite
small. All rooms are basic and could use an update in design when it comes to drapery, linens, and color palettes. Both
furniture and carpeting have wear and tear marks, but the bathrooms are somewhat
modern and decently sized, offering blond-wood counter tops with small stools
and hairdryers.

Features

Pet-friendly with concierge services, parking, and breakfast for a fee

The Vert
is pet-friendly and provides concierge services. A morning meal, served daily
in the breakfast room, comes with a fee and receives mixed reviews. A
business center can be found in the lobby, consisting of only a tiny metal table
with a laptop. Private parking is available on-site, but guests must pay another
fee for the access code. There’s no on-site restaurant, but the hotel is
connected to the nearby Restaurant La Rôtisserie, which serves local
French cuisine for lunch and dinner. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
