The 126-room Moab Valley Inn is a downtown Moab value motel with an indoor/outdoor pool that’s open all year, free breakfast, laundry facilities, four meeting rooms, and a computer corner. Large rooms feature flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges; Suites offer wet bars and some have jetted tubs. However, some rooms lack natural sunlight and can be noisy. Some guests prefer the rooms at the Hampton Inn, so it's worth comparing rates.

Scene

Large, budget hotel popular with vacationers and business travelers alike

The three-floor hotel -- with lawns, pine trees, picnic tables, and two barbecue grills -- has more amenities than average for a hotel of its type. The large outdoor parking lot in front accommodates big-rig trucks, with wheelchair accessible parking located toward the rear of the inn. The lobby is typical of an affordable chain hotel, with electronic glass doors and a wooden front desk. An adjacent 24-hour hospitality room has free Starbucks coffee, comfy chairs, a microwave, a computer, and a printer. The casual breakfast room features red vinyl chairs, high chairs, a flat-screen TV and large buffet counters with waffle makers, toasters, and juice and coffee machines. Hallways, though, are dimly lit and past visitors have reported faint smells of cigarette smoke.

Location

In downtown Moab on Main Street, across from the Moab Brewery

Moab Valley Inn is located on a busy part of Main Street in downtown Moab, across the road from the popular Moab Brewery. Slickrock Cinemas 3 -- near a McDonald’s and Burger King -- is a four-minute walk away and it’s a 10-minute walk to the Moab Adventure Center. Outlaw Jeep Tours is seven-minutes away. It’s a 10-minute drive to Arches National Park and the Mill Creek Waterfall Trail takes about 15 minutes to reach by car. Canyonlands National Park is a 36-minute drive, while Dead Horse Point State Park is a 42-minute drive.

Rooms

Modern rooms and suites with flat-screen TVs, some with wet bars and jetted tubs

Wooden furniture and a color palette in earth tones (brown, green, and cream) create a homey vibe in the inn's rooms and suites, but some don't get a lot of natural light and feel dark. Windows face the parking lot and/or mountains. All rooms come with mini-fridges, irons, flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and basic bathrooms with shower/tub combos and exterior sink/vanity areas. ADA accessible rooms have queen beds and one has a roll-in shower. Suites feature sitting areas and wet bars with microwaves and sinks. Executive Suites have living rooms with sofa beds, conference tables, and two bathrooms. Two Queen Suites and King Suites offer shower/jetted tub combos and each comes with two flat-screen TVs.

Features

Four meeting rooms, indoor/outdoor pool, gym, and coin-operated laundry

The inn has four conference rooms: the Arches, La Sal, the Canyonlands, and the Moab, which can collectively fit up to 650 people. A stage, a dance floor, and optional audiovisual equipment are available. The year-round indoor/outdoor pool is a nice perk and unusual to find in Moab. A sliding garage door separates the indoor and outdoor areas. The outdoor section offers casual lounge chairs and views of the parking lot and mountains. Indoors is the hot tub, more patio furniture, and a vending machine. The small gym overlooks the indoor part of the pool and has modern cardio equipment, a tube TV, and weights.A self-serve laundry room is equipped with four coin-operated washers and dryers, and there's a detergent dispenser is mounted on the wall.
