The 144-room Una Hotel Century is a three-and-a-half-pearl
hotel in one of Milan’s business districts. Guest rooms are clean and modern, with a white and chocolate brown color scheme, but they lack adequate soundproofing. There’s an on-site Italian
restaurant, a cafe, and a free breakfast service,
plus meeting rooms and free Wi-Fi for business guests. However, the lack of a business
center or public computers is odd for a business hotel. Tourists wishing to be
closer to the city center may want to consider the NH Collection Milano
President, while business travelers could check the prices at the Windsor Hotel
Milano, which has room service and a business center.
Scene
Business chain hotel with streamlined, contemporary decor
Like a typical UNA chain hotel, this
property is geared toward business travelers, but it's equally convenient for
sightseeing tourists, too. The entire property, rooms and common spaces, was
fully renovated in 2014. Though it's not remarkable in terms of character or
decor, it’s a comfortable upper-range option. The forgettable exterior looks
like the average office block. Inside, the design is contemporary -- glossy
black floors, white walls, and a mix of comfy red and yellow leather armchairs
and black leather couches. Things are far more cheerful in the well-lit
restaurant, though it still has a basic streamlined style, with warm hardwood
flooring, white tables and chairs, and a few red and black decorative
sculptures placed here and there.
Location
Located in a business district and near public transportation
The hotel is located in the business
district of Centro de Direzionale. Some travelers have reported difficulty in
locating the hotel as its behind other buildings. Restaurants and bars fill the surrounding streets, and the Indro Montanelli Public Gardens is a 15-minute walk away. There’s a tram that’s adjacent to the hotel, a two-minute walk away, and a metro station is a three-minute walk away. Though well-located for
business travelers, it’s outside the tourist-driven city center, requiring guests
to take public transportation to see major sights such as the Duomo or Sforzesco Castle, an 11-minute ride and 17-minute ride, respectively. It takes 19 minutes by car to reach Linate Airport.
Rooms
Contemporary rooms with flat-screen TVs, kettles, and USB port chargers; some with free minibars
The spacious, renovated rooms at UNA Hotel are
contemporary and stylish, with hardwood flooring, white linens, and brown accents including large padded headboards, settees, curtains, and big work desks. Leather chairs or small upholstered sofas make for comfortable
seating areas. All rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, electric kettles,
safes, and USB port chargers. Superior or higher-grade rooms feature free stocked minibars. Two rooms have
Technogym cardio equipment (a treadmill or a bike) and a few are outfitted with
large meeting tables and monitor TVs. Upper-floor rooms unsurprisingly provide the best views of Milan.
The tan-tiled bathrooms are
immaculate and modern, with illuminated vanity mirrors, hairdryers, and either glass
showers with waterfall showerheads or shower/tub combos with half doors.
Features
Restaurant, cafe, breakfast, meeting rooms, and free Wi-Fi -- but no business center
The highlight of the property is the a la carte
restaurant -- Bistro Italiano -- which serves Italian and international fare and
has outdoor seating on a patio. Dining options don’t end there; the hotel also has a
cafe with snacks and cocktails and a free breakfast buffet in the mornings,
though the breakfast gets mixed reviews. There are four fully equipped meeting rooms that can hold up to 70 guests plus free
Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. But notably, there are no public computers for guests' use and no business center. Small pets are welcome (for a fee), and there’s parking available nearby for a fee.
