The NH President's 274 rooms are all soundproofed, which is a good thing considering the hotel's location in Milan's bustling city center. Within walking distance to many points of interests, and less than 200 feet from the Duomo, the hotel is ideal for tourists. Because of the large commercial area surrounding the hotel, it's also popular among business travelers, who account for nearly half of the check-ins. Contemporary rooms have upscale decor and modern amenities, and some have lovely Duomo views. The hotel has an on-site restaurant and bar that provides 24-hour room service, but if you are looking for a fitness center, you're better off at the Starhotels Rosa Grand.
Scene
Upscale contemporary style with dark wood, leather, and glass decor
From the outside, the President resembles more of a large, grey shopping center than a hotel. A row of pillars punctuates the outer edge of the property's ground floor, helping to support a covered sidewalk. The second story has floor-to-ceiling windows. However, once inside, guests are engulfed in the hotel's contemporary style, full of rich browns, polished floors, chic leather, and sharp-angled minimalistic decor. The open floor plan includes a large, smooth, and shiny front desk, plenty of spacious seating on snazzy couches with unique glass and wood coffee tables, ornate mirrors, and row after row of in-ceiling track lighting. The whole vibe is slick, indulgent, and sparklingly clean. This style is found throughout the hotel, in both the well-lit Il Verziere Restaurant and in the casual but contemporary El Colonne Bar.
Location
Superbly walkable location in the heart of Milan near the Duomo
Located in the middle of central Milan, the NH President's convenience is hard to beat. The Duomo is a one-minute walk away and the San Babila metro station and bus stop are just out front. The elegant Via Montenapoleone, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and the Teatro alla Scala are all nearby. The hotel is also surrounded by a large commercial area, which contributes to its popularity among business travelers. Milan's Linate airport can be reached via the 73 bus, which stops in front of the hotel.
Rooms
Clean rooms with chic decor, some with balconies and/or Duomo views
All 274 rooms at the President are spotless and feature chic decor in line with that of the hotel's public spaces. Rooms have beautiful hardwood flooring and are either wallpapered or painted in a charcoal blue. Accents and furniture alternate between various types of wood, but all blend beautifully with the design of the rooms. Most rooms have a separate desk area with telephone and feature flat-screen TVs, kettles, and capsule coffee and tea machines. All categories except for Standard Rooms have a sofa and chair seating area, and some suites include a dining table. Some rooms have small, narrow balconies. Views vary from room to room; book a Duomo Suite for a guaranteed view of the cathedral. All bathrooms are spotless, modern, and have shower/tub combos. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are on offer.
Features
Nice features that mostly apply to business travelers
Features include a currency exchange, meeting and conference rooms, and a business center, as well as an on-site Italian restaurant and bar with 24-hour room service. Although the Wi-Fi is free, the service is mediocre; guests who want fast Internet need to upgrade to "premium" access for a fee. There's no fitness center and guests with cars are left to their own devices, as the hotel doesn't provide any sort of parking. Small animals are welcome for free, while larger pets may incur a fee. The hotel also serves a generous free breakfast. If guests get hungry between meals, they can grab a snack or soda from one of the hallway snack stations.
