Bottom Line

This five-pearl perfume-factory-turned-hotel is one of the top boutique hotels in Milan. It's far from the city center, but its location in a trendy design district seems appropriate for its fashionable vibe. The 39 chic rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and electronic wall
panels that control the temperature. On-site features are what’s expected of a luxury boutique hotel: a stylish Italian restaurant and bar, a rooftop and garden
terrace, and a modern (though small) gym and spa with massages available. But the open-air lobby might be too cold in the winters for some. Travelers may want to compare rates with the Boscolo Milano, which has an indoor pool, a larger spa, and bolder, more colorful interior design.

Scene

Industrial-chic hotel with an open-air lobby popular with tourists and business travelers

The Magna Pars Suites is housed in a former perfume factory, and the hotel pays homage to the building’s past with
an olfactory theme, such as rooms characterized by smells, artworks illustrating botanical perfume ingredients, and perfume samples for sale in the
lobby. Guests are greeted with an opulent experience as soon as they
step past the glass facade and into the open-air lobby. Parts of the brightly lit space resemble an outdoor terrace with dark-wood patio flooring and a large sheet providing shade. The lobby can be quite cold during
the winter, though the hotel tries to accommodate with heaters. Exposed vents,
wooden slatted or brick walls, and thick silver wires create an overall industrial-chic decor throughout, while an emphasis on white furnishings contribute to a modern and sleek vibe. The restaurant, by contrast, has a darker color scheme, with dark-brown wood-paneled walls and wooden floors. The modern chairs are
brown or gray with pops of colors in orange or purple pillows, booths, and/or place
settings. There's seating on an outdoor patio in the hotel’s wild and natural garden. The
luxurious rooftop deck has white
canopies providing shade to comfy white couches and sunbeds. Couples and business
guests make up the majority of the clientele.

Location

In Milan's fashion district, well-connected to public transportation

The hotel is located in Via Tortona, Milan’s creative fashion district, filled with artists and designers of all
sorts. There’s a number of restaurants, cafes, and bars on the surrounding
streets. Just a 15-minute walk takes travelers to the Naviglio Grande canal, a
historic and romantic canal in a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood. The Santa
Maria delle Grazi -- where Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Last Supper” is on display -- is
a long 21-minute walk away. But the hotel is far from the city center and attractions such as Sforzesco Castle or the Duomo di Milano, though both can be reached by public
transportation in 14 and 18 minutes, respectively. The Milano Porta Genova train station, a bus stop, and a tram
stop are all a four-minute walk away, while the Porta Genova metro station takes
five minutes on foot to reach. Linate Airport is a 28-minute drive away.

Rooms

Chic rooms with olfactory themes, minibars, flat-screen TVs, and opulent bathrooms

Rooms at this property are called “Suites,” though most
aren’t necessarily suites, but lavish residences that align with the ultra-modern chic style of the
hotel. Rooms range in size, and each is
characterized by a different perfumery note such as fruity or woody. The paintings found above the beds were created by students at the
Brera Academy and reflect each suite’s particular fragrance element. All rooms have dark-wood floors and white walls, linens, and furniture. Subtle
elements of color appear with a red leather divan here or a blue leather pullout sofa there,
plus brown leather chairs for the white blocky, IKEA-esque tables and desks. There’s
floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the garden and partial walls to partition
the beds from sitting areas (in rooms that have them). All rooms are outfitted with air-conditioning, minibars, coffee- and tea-making facilities, free bottled water,
and flat-screen TVs. Upper-level rooms have 3D flat-screen TVs (Junior Suites
do not), while the Presidential Suite includes Technogym cardio equipment. LCD screens
manage temperature and international sockets are convenient for guests from around the world. Bathrooms are
overwhelmingly white and bright, with marble or porcelain vessel sinks, large
mirrors, bidets, and back-lit walk-in rainfall showers or separate showers and
tubs. Robes and Aqua
Adornationis toiletries add to the opulent ambiance.

Features

Small spa, gym, breakfast, restaurant, bar, and rooftop terrace

Despite being a smallish boutique hotel, the Magna Pars Suites manages to offer numerous
top-notch facilities, including a small spa with a sauna and massage services. The modern gym has four cardio machines, a few kettlebells, and a weightlifting
pulley system. Each morning, the hotel serves a breakfast (included in the room
rates), which can be taken on the outdoor terrace during warm months. The Da Noi
In serves Italian fare made from seasonal ingredients for lunch and dinner,
while the Liquidambar (a bar with late hours) serves light snacks and has an
extensive wine menu. Room service is available during limited hours. The
library room and the rooftop terrace provide two scenic and chic areas to
lounge, grab a book, or have a drink. Business travelers can make use of the one
fully equipped meeting room, and there's a public computer in the lobby and free hotel-wide Wi-Fi.
Valet parking is available for a fee.
