The c-hotels Atlantic is a upper-middle-range chain hotel that delivers with solid features like free breakfast and Wi-Fi, clean and comfortable rooms, and perks like a fitness center (albeit a tiny one). The location isn't ideal for tourists who want to walk to the Duomo and high-end retail shops, but its right around the corner from Milan's Central Station and two underground stations, making it a convenient choice for budget-savvy travelers. Rooms were renovated in 2013 to include contemporary furniture and flat-screen TVs. There isn't an on-site restaurant, though there are several within walking distance of the hotel. Check rates at Best Western Plus Hotel Galles for an indoor pool and access to Corso Buenos Aires, one of the best shopping streets in Milan.
Scene
Six-story chain hotel
The scene at c-hotels Atlantic in Milan is warm and friendly with none of the attitude you might expect in jet-set Milan. Guests are mostly international tourists and business travelers who spend their time exploring the city or working on their laptops in the comfortable lounge. Slightly worn robin's egg and royal blue sofsa and chairs are centered around glass coffee tables. A wall-mounted magazine rack holds free newspapers and magazines. Pendant-style lighting fixtures and a glass partition look modern and set the scene at this sleek, although not particularly luxe, property.
Location
Close to Milan's Central Station
Fast access to public transportation is the biggest draw at the c-hotels Atlantic. Milan's Central Station is just 100 meters away as are entrances to two underground stations and a bus terminal taking passengers to the airport and city center. The surrounding neighborhood includes bars, restaurants, pubs, pizzerias, and shops. Note that the hotel is located outside of Milan's restricted traffic zone so it's legal and free to arrive via private car. Parking costs extra.
Rooms
Clean, contemporary rooms are sleek, if not luxe.
There are 62 rooms and suites at the c-hotels Atlantic and each was renovated in 2013. Hardwood floors and contemporary wooden or white leather furniture look fresh, but simple. Large windows overlook the city and streets below. Purple, blue, and red are incorporated into the bed runners and curtains for a pop of color. Bendable reading lights mounted next to the bed are a fun touch. Built-in closets include wardrobes and spaces for the stocked minibars and safes. Standard bathrooms have single sinks and bathtub/shower combinations, with dispensers of Dove products attached to the walls. Some rooms in higher categories have whirlpool tubs. Past guests have complained about noise from the street and thin walls. Book a room on the top floor for the quietest stay.
Features
Free breakfast, a tiny fitness center, and meeting rooms round out business-friendly features.
You won't find a swimming pool or restaurant at the c-hotels Atlantic, but the hotel does serve a free buffet breakfast with everything from sparkling wine (this is Italy, after all) to pastries and cheese. Coffee and tea are available for guests to serve themselves throughout the day. The fitness center is on the smaller side and doesn't include strength-training equipment. Technogym cardio equipment looks new. Two computers and a printer are available for guests to use, as is a meeting room. In-room Wi-Fi is free, and small pets are allowed without a charge.
