Housed in an early 1920s villa near Milan’s central train station, the mid-range Biocity is a charming, 17-room hotel that was restored in 2012. It has stylish, low-key decor that varies from room to room and pairs well with the hotel's eco-friendly ethos, which includes energy-efficient heating and cooling systems and use of organic cleaning products. A free breakfast with homemade pastries is served in a room overlooking a garden area. The location, within walking distance of the Milano Centrale Railway Station, is an easy ride from the nearby Sondrio metro station to attractions in central Milan. While some guests report that the surrounding neighborhood is not very welcoming, the area is generally safe.
Scene
Antique facade paired with a modern, earthy interior
The Biocity is a lovely mix of old and new. Outside, the hotel has a rich yellow facade with classic ornamentation and wrought-iron balconies, while inside it has a low-key, modern and slightly crafty style. An orange-walled lobby has a small seating area featuring a brown Chesterfield sofa and comfortably worn green leather armchairs. The breakfast room is set up like a market, the shelves filled with organic pastas and sauces, with banquettes in soft red leather and small wood tables lined with brown runners. The space has a gently sloped wood ceiling and overlooks a small green courtyard.

The attic rooms have slightly rustic sloped beamed ceilings painted white. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, and electric kettles. Some rooms have lovely wrought-iron terraces overlooking the street. All 17 rooms are spacious, as are the bathrooms, which are decorated with dark marble tiles, stylish vessel sinks, wood vanities, and glass-walled walk-in showers.
