Bottom Line

This small, 66-room hotel in northwest Milan has a bit more color than the average business hotel. Rooms are spacious and sophisticated, but some get street noise. Convenient for trade shows, it’s a short walk to both the Fiera Milano City exhibition center and MiCo Milano Congressi, Milan’s new convention center. The breakfast room has panoramic views of the city and mountains, but though there is a stylish wine bar, there’s no proper restaurant and the gym is small. It’s ideal for business travelers and trade show attendees, but not as convenient for tourists.

Scene

Bright business hotel with bland exterior and more sophisticated interiors

From outside, the hotel looks like a budget property, with a bland brown facade and a garish yellow sign. The interior is a bit more stylish, with colorful mosaics and lots of yellow with gold accents. Overall, the decor is a bit brighter than the average business-focused hotel. In the breakfast room, light streams through large windows, while Al Portello -- the wine bar -- is darker and more sophisticated, though its reflective ceiling feels a little dated. There’s also a small landscaped terrace with black cushioned wicker chairs.

Location

Across from a shopping mall and within walking distance of convention centers

The hotel is located on a main road in a residential area across from Il Portello shopping center, which has more than two dozen designer stores. It’s a 15-minute walk to Fiera Milano City and a 20-minute walk to the MiCo Milano Congressi. A tram stops opposite the hotel and it’s a roughly 30-minute trip to the Duomo and Milano Centrale Railway Station. It’s a 30-minute drive to Malpensa Airport, which takes around an hour and ten minutes to reach via public transportation.

Rooms

Spacious, with decor heavy on yellow and gold

The 66 spacious units include various room categories, as well as one Suite and two Junior Suites. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, and safes. The decor in rooms is heavy on yellow, with sunny walls and dark hardwood floors. Beds have cushioned white headboards with gold trim. Suites are filled with bright-orange and crimson fabrics. Bathrooms have wide vanities made of salmon-colored or black marble and spacious shower/tub combos.  Light sleepers should request a room away from the main road, as those facing it can get street noise.

Features

Buffet breakfast served in a lovely room with a view, plus a wine bar serves snacks

The hotel offers a well-stocked breakfast buffet -- with dishes such as pancakes and scrambled eggs --  in a top-floor room with beautiful views of the city. Al Portello, the wine bar, serves snacks, wine, and cocktails. The hotel’s two meeting rooms have old-fashioned decor, one with an arched wooden roof and the other with what look like stained glass windows. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, and parking in the hotel’s garage is free for guests who book through the hotel’s website.
