Bottom Line

The 459-room Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow sits at the higher end of airport hotels, and bucks the trend for the often faceless and functional properties of this type. Interiors are elegant, while eating and drinking areas are sleek and inviting. A proper spa, too, is an unexpected bonus, and extensive on-site parking is a big plus. Rooms are good -- with stylish interiors, big flat-screen TVs, and electric kettles -- though lacking a certain pizzazz, and soundproofing could be better in some rooms. There are plenty of hotels to choose from in the immediate area, but for this caliber of hotel, this is probably the best value.

Scene

Upscale airport hotel

With its bold neo-Classical touches and shimmering line of tall windows, the Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow Hotel has a distinctive facade. Inside is no less impressive, its spacious lobby area is a swath of polished marble, hardwood paneling, and distinguished-looking furnishings, all illuminated by a huge centerpiece chandelier. A pair of giant vases flank intricately wrought brass stair railings that lead up into the hanger-like atrium, bathed in natural light from its glass ceiling and housing an intriguing water feature. Mood is quite distinguished for an airport hotel with an Edwardian gentlemen’s club-style ambience, appealing to business travelers, conference delegates, and well-heeled tourists here for a stopover.

Location

Set on busy road on north side of Heathrow Airport

The Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow Hotel is located on a busy strip that runs parallel to Heathrow Airport, which includes other hotels, businesses, and fast food restaurants. The Hotel Hopper bus delivers guests to the airport, though time very much depends on which of the five terminals you're flying from. Central London is a 45-minute tube journey from Heathrow Underground Station, which is situated within the airport, or 15 minutes by the Heathrow Express service.

Rooms

Modern rooms with free Wi-Fi

The hotel has 459 rooms, all of which are decorated in a smart, modern style with a blend of contemporary and traditional mahogany furnishings. Beds have padded headboards, crisp cotton linen, and velvet throws, while huge windows provide plenty of natural daylight. All the standard amenities are present and correct, including free Wi-Fi, while bathrooms are decked out in Sicilian marble with Jacob Delafon designer bathware and Essentiel Elements toiletries. Soundproofing isn't perfect in all rooms, and some are on the small side.

Features

Impressive eating and drinking options as well as a modern spa

The hotel's Annayu restaurant offers a menu of contemporary takes on traditional Indian cooking in playful, modern surrounds. Steak & Lobster Restaurant is an impressive funky, space serving 10-ounce rib-eye steaks and whole lobsters, as well as signature cocktails. The super-glitzy Bijou Bar serves premium champagnes and classic cocktails. Great for those just off a long-haul, the Pegasus Spa provides a range of treatments as well as a plunge pool, sauna, and steam room. Extensive conference and meeting facilities are available on-site, as well as parking (for a fee) and Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.
