Rodeway Inn South Miami – Coral Gables

The Rodeway Inn South Miami - Coral Gables is a four-story value boutique hotel with a light, pleasant decor scheme that's much nicer than average for a hotel of this category. Big windows and courtyard atrium skylights brighten up the lobby. The space has a lounge bar section with red couches, wood tables, and a piano. Free newspapers are also available. The breakfast room has wooden chairs and white tablecloths with some artwork on the walls, and large windows provide some natural light. The furniture in all the common areas was worn and chipped during our visit, but the hotel has since added contemporary white chairs in the lobby. As a value property with a simple boutique ambience, the hotel primarily attracts leisure travelers looking for an affordable and convenient place to stay.

The Rodeway Inn South Miami - Coral Gables is located in South Miami, near plenty of restaurants and a five-minute walk from the South Miami Metrorail Station. The University of Miami and South Miami Hospital are each within a 10-minute walk of the hotel, while Dadeland Mall, Tropical Park, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Cosford Cinema, Lowe Art Museum, and the Miracle Mile are about all about 10 minutes away from the hotel by car. Getting to Coconut Grove takes closer to 15 minutes, while the Miami International Airport is a 20-minute drive away.

Rooms are simple and light, with lovely wood floors, red or blue bed runners, and tan drapes. All units have free newspapers, flat-screen TVs, and wooden tables and chairs, and some rooms have microwaves and mini-fridges. Bathrooms are equally plain, with speckled granite countertops, tan tile, basic toiletries, and wall-mounted hairdryers, but past guests have complained that they could do with a few more towels than what's provided. 

The hotel's nicest feature is its outdoor courtyard pool, surrounded by plastic lounge chairs and lots of palms and ferns. Guests can also expect a free breakfast of toast, eggs, juice, cereal, and fruit. Other features include a small business corner with a single computer in the lobby, right next to an ATM and a rack of brochures. The hotel provides free shuttles to and from Miami International Airport and to the Port of Miami for cruises. The hotel has on-site parking (for a fee) in a covered garage, but the lot often fills up. Free Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby.
