Bottom Line

Conveniently located in trendy South Beach, the Harrison provides guests with an affordable stay compared to most of the other hotels within the area. The property relies on Asian-influenced, Art Deco motifs, with red accents and paintings of geishas throughout the property. The 297 guest rooms are spacious and contemporary, but the furnishings show some wear and tear, and there are reports of strong moldy smells throughout the hallways and rooms. Though amenities are limited, there’s a large outdoor courtyard where guests can relax on wicker furniture among trees and modern sculptures.

Scene

An Art Deco lobby with East Asia influences

The decor of the Harrison's front lobby is funky and Art Deco-inspired, with tons of paintings covering every inch of the walls, including those in the stair railings. There’s an overt East Asian influence to the property’s interior, which features various red accents -- red leather chairs, a red chandelier, red doors, and a red countertop at the front desk. While the decor and furnishings are generally contemporary, there's a slightly dated feel to the hotel overall, and there are some signs of wear and tear.

Rooms

Plain, contemporary rooms that are showing some wear

The Harrison’s 297 rooms have a contemporary style, with sleek wood furniture, dark wood floors, and bright white linens. The hotel offers a choice between double, queen, and king-sized beds, all of which rest upon wood and fabric headboards. The rooms are rather plain, with white walls and neutral curtains; decor primarily consists of large paintings of geishas. Each space has a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, a large closet with a safe and iron, a coffee machine, and air-conditioning. However, the rooms show some wear and tear, such as scratches on the furniture, sloppy paint jobs, and dark grout between the tiles in the bathrooms. The bathrooms are tiny and compact, with white-tiled walls and floors, modern glass vessel sinks, and tub/shower combos with glass doors.

Features

Outdoor courtyard with seating areas and sculptures, and a lounge room with a computer and ATM

The Harrison’s amenities are rather limited, with the hotel’s proximity to South Beach sights being one of the its best features. The venue has an outdoor courtyard filled with trees, flowers, plants, and modern sculptures as well as various sitting areas, with large tables and black wicker couches. The courtyard is located in the center of the property, with direct access to the stairwells that lead to the guest rooms. There's also a small lounge room off the front lobby with red leather chairs, a computer, and an ATM machine. Wi-Fi is free.
