Bottom Line

The 131-room Hampton Inn Miami Dadeland is a lower-middle-range chain hotel within walking distance of Dadeland Mall. An outdoor heated pool, hot tub, and free hot breakfast draw many families, while business travelers are also attracted by its meeting rooms, business center, and fitness center. Room decor is a bit bland and dated, though not unpleasant, with flat-screen TVs and coffee/tea facilities. The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the airport and other local spots, plus there is a metro station nearby that makes traveling around Miami easy. Guests should note that though parking is free, there's a limited amount of spaces. Travelers might also want to consider the Hampton Inn Miami-Coconut Groves/Coral Gable, which offers similar amenities, but is more stylish and closer to the beach.

Scene

Contemporary chain hotel that caters to families and business travelers

The Hampton Inn Miami Dadeland has a streamlined,
contemporary look. Interiors are a bit chain-like and bland, though comfortable, with sleek black-brown furniture, wooden floors, and silver accents in the lobby. The adjacent breakfast area is trendier with black, gray, and green chairs, attractive patterned rugs, and photographs in sleek black frames adorning the walls. Common areas like the hallways show a bit of wear and tear, like worn carpeting. Most guests are families congregating at the
pool or at breakfast.

Location

Within walking distance of Dadeland Mall and metro station

The closest attraction to the hotel is Dadeland Mall, which is a six-minute walk away. Guests can take the
Miami MetroRail Dadeland North Station -- a six-minute walk from the property -- to access other areas of Miami.
The hotel also provides a free shuttle to and from Baptist Hospital,
Nordstrom's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Macy's. Many other attractions can be easily reached by car, such as the University of Miami, a 15-minute car drive,
and Virginia Key Beach, a 30-minute drive. The closest restaurant is a
three-minute walk away, with many other dining options a bit farther. Miami International Airport is about a 20-minute drive; the hotel offers free shuttle service.

Rooms

Spacious rooms with USB charging stations, flat-screen TVs, and coffeemakers

The rooms are spacious and feature a forest green color scheme with green accent walls, carpets, and curtains paired with wooden furniture. Though the decor is a bit bland and dated, like the ‘80s-inspired paintings hanging above beds, overall the rooms are pleasant and equipped with modern comforts that include flat-screen TVs and coffee/tea makers. The USB charging stations and laptop lap desks are also nice touches. Most rooms have armchairs, and some King Bed Rooms have sofa beds. Bathrooms are spacious with shower/tub combos, lots of counter space, and Neutrogena toiletries. There have been some complaints about maintenance issues, however.

Features

Heated pool, hot tub, fitness center, and free hot breakfast

The best feature of the hotel is its heated outdoor pool and hot tub. The surrounding sundeck is lined with lounge chairs and umbrella-shaded tables, while tall palm trees skirting the edge add a dose of tropical greenery. There's a small fitness room equipped with four cardio machines, free weights, and medicine balls, though it's not open 24-hours. The free hot breakfast is popular among guests, as are the free Hampton's On the Run Breakfast Bags. Free fruit-infused water is available in the lobby, and there is a vending machine with soda. Free parking is available, but complaints have been made about the limited number of spaces. The hotel has meeting rooms that hold up to 80 guests and a business center with two computers and a printer, plus Wi-Fi is free throughout. Babysitting services are available for a fee.
